Software News   Software News : FontForge ported to AmigaOS4 (X11)
posted by COBRA on 8-May-2007 16:47:41 (4860 reads)
Edgar Schwan released another quality port, a very powerful outline font editor that lets you create your own postscript, truetype, opentype, cid-keyed, multi-master, cff, svg and bitmap (bdf, FON, NFNT) fonts, or edit existing ones. Also lets you convert one format to another. FontForge has support for many macintosh font formats. Printing is also supported.

We get some very useful applications thanks to Edgar's hard work. You should finally have gotten a small donation from me.

Btw. donations can be made via the Paypal link on Edgar's website: Make a donation

@ spotUP

No problem, my situation is not much better. You've donated a lot of programs to the community, this is also an important thing!

To FontForge:

It's a very complex program, isn't it? I could not test it all. I hope it will not crash too much

@ all

Don't forget to test EasyTag 2.0! It's a very nice program!

Hi,

just a question: it is hard to port OpenOffice?

Thank you for your works.

@ spotUP

At the moment I'm finishing some older ports like the sdlBasic-IDE, a new version of vim70, the picture viewer gqview and some other tools. They are nearly finished, I only have to fix some bugs and make a package.

To the SDK: I'm not sure if it make sense to publish a new SDK without solving the conflicts with the OS4-SDK. I have the impression, that noone uses the first SDK seriously because of this. I must make some mayor changes to Cygnix to solve this.

I have an internal update with all new libs, but making a new package is always a lot of work. I want to be sure, that it is worth doing it.

@ Toaks

Thanks in advance

@ AmigaBlitter & Troels

I don't know how hard it is, but I'm afraid, that it is easier than porting Firefox
But let's see, what the future will bring...

The most obvious explanation is that American English is the most common form of English. According to David Crystal's English as a Global Language (1997), two thirds of native speakers live in the US. In comparison, British English is - fortunatly, IMHO - a mere fraction of its US counterpart.

My two cents, anyhoo.
