Amiga Announces New Line of Consumer Applications

Amiga Cool Tools available for under $ 2.00
Snowman Maker, Tip Calculator and TipIt are first in the new line of products

All available at www.shopamiga.com

Issaquah, Wash. - December 12, 2008 – Amiga, Inc. announces a new line of consumer friendly applications built on AmigaAnywhere technology that enables the quick development and deployment of applications and services for supported hardware and software platforms.

Amiga is now offering Snowman Maker, Tip Calculators and TipIT for Windows devices for only .99 each. These are the first in a new line of accessible easy to use products, that everyone can use and enjoy.

Snowman Maker provides an entertaining interface that allows the user to create their own custom Greeting card directly on their Windows Mobile phone and then mailing that custom card directly from their phone to any other device that supports MMS messaging. Snowman Maker makes giving cards fun and easy.

Tip Calculator takes the guess work out of what to leave for your tip. Simply type in the amount of your bill, and Tip Calculator takes care of the rest. Immediately select from one of the levels and the amount and total are right there ready to apply to the bill. Now you will never have to worry about what the correct amount should be.

TipIt provides a simple and easy way to calculate tips for not only your server at the restaurant, but cab fares and everywhere else you may want to know what the correct amount should be.

Amiga will be offering several other new Cool Tool applications in the coming weeks that will provide fun and friendly applications that everyone can enjoy.

What is the link between "application deployment" and Snowthing and TipCalculator?

@Quixote:
The problem is, that Amiga Inc. announces big things, stays silent for looong time periods and then releases $ 0.99 applications, that even are available for free at Micro$oft.

OMG! How low can Amiga go! I can't believe this company represents the best years of computing fun I ever had in the 80's and 90's... devastated to see what is happening... makes me sick!

@QuBe

Now you have to remember that those are not the same people in charge as it was back when it was Fun!!

The only positive thing you can make of this is that... AA2 apears to be at at point where you can write and release programes.

Now you can now wonder if they has used all the time on AA2 up till now, or they have been coding on some application using it at the same time.,

If they still have a company in indya, it migth be possible that some applications are underway.

The current 1-2 days project released here do not show its potentional.. or maybe it does a little, for it apears to be so simple that even Flecy can write a program in it.

Some how, I think there will be followed up by some press statement after newyear.

anyway I'm not expecting any release anytime soon. for hey its AInc, they need a couple years more.

>> AA2 player and SDK for AOS4 perhaps?
>I think, that even AA2 player and SDK for AOS4 would not help anything for AOS4...

Sure, AA2 apps do not appeal to anyone, but theorethically it would give realAmiga developers a chance to develop for wider audience on an AmigaOS machine.

And ofcourse, a port of JAVA for AOS4 would be more important at this point.

Some people would be satisfied if Amiga,Inc shipped them a free copy of Amiga OS4.1 and a free SAM440flex in a custom case, including a letter of apology for taking so long.

That still wouldn't be enough to satisfy others!

If Amiga Inc can make money selling 99cent phone apps and $4.99 classic games just maybe they will have means to move forward.

Market for cellphone apps potentially hundreds of millions of customers;market for true Amiga apps TODAY potentially hundreds of hundreds of customers.

Businesses run on money.

Is it possible to release 68k Amiga application for Windows users via AmigaInc?

Do those Genetic Species and other classic games @shopamiga run on top of "UAEplayer"?

((with EUAE & JIT on ARM, those 68k apps might be usable on phones????))

And for AmigaInc to get friendly with us, they could start to sell (distribute) game binaries also for AOS4.

> There's just no pleasing some people.

Actually I would be quite pleased if they released something Amiga.

Either new Amiga hardware, or software that actually ran on Amigas.

They do neither. They just run scams and produce trivial things for trivial devices that no one is even interested in.

No wonder they get a lot of flak.

What I am curious about, and I am sure everyone here is too -- why do the current owners of the Amiga assets actually require the name 'Amiga' or any of its assets? None of their products have anything to do with the Amiga OS or hardware. They could sell the Amiga name, whatever assets/trademarks are left, and re-brand their products, and it wouldn't matter in the least regarding the income they bring in from their mobile products.

As for income, I can't see any of their products bringing in any sizable amount to sustain a company, even using very generous projections. Most of the Pocket PC games, such as they make, aren't big money-makers, even if they are from well-known gaming companies. And the mobile games and 'Cool Tools' products they produce aren't exactly top of the line products to begin with. At best, figure they bring in the equivalent to what a single garage developer/shareware programmer would make. So... it's not enough to run a proper company, so what's the point? Some legal maneuver/tax write off thing?

Because they paid $4.5M USD for it.

Using the calculator that came free with my phone, I figured out they only have to sell 4,545,454 and 1/2 copies of their CalcTip at $0.99 each to break even.

The program is free of course as posted early in the news item from Microsoft's website:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/totalaccess/software/games/snowman.mspx

But then I sent a check to AI for $0.99 anway because it was 'snow' awsome!!

They need to release something to avoid the company being shut down or the bad reputation harming the court case.
That's the only explanation I can think of for this ...
