posted by _Steve_ on 20-Jun-2009 1:36:40 (2924 reads)
Almost one month after the last release, Toni Wilen has pronounced the next increment to the Amiga Emulation - WinUAE fit for a release! This takes it to version 1.6.1.

1.6.0 bugs fixed:
  • ASPI uaescsi.device emulation crash.
  • Directory harddrive Windows illegal character handling fixed.
  • Magic mouse fixed.
  • Loading configuration file from command line with GUI enabled didn't override Quickstart configuration if Quickstart mode was enabled.
  • Gzip decompression fixed.
  • Few remaining unicode conversion issues fixed.

Other bug fixes:
  • Warp mode in fullscreen mode was not much faster in some situations.
  • Direct3D scanlines work correctly again.
  • Bsdsocket emulation crash when closing socket in some situations.
  • Vsync with "unmatched" refresh rates was not adjusted correctly.

New features:
  • Added disk image and configuration file icons, file extension association improved.
  • Added button/key toggle mode to Input panel.

Will this work with AmiKit & Vista?

No reason that it shouldn't since AmiKit runs on top of WinUAE.

There is no reason WinUAE should not work on Vista (or Win 7 for that) and many people already do use it on both 32 and 64 bit installations of Vista and 7.

Test sig (new)

I'm still using v1.4.6 with AmiKit because of a small gfx problem. I now know the fix for the pointer problem, just wondering if anyone has tried it yet & if the fix is still required. Should have been more specific in my first post.

Pointer with a pink box with the fix being to add the -dd option, RunAmiKit=-ddsoftwarecolorkey -f... .

Just installed it and it' working flawlessly.

The previous version (1.6.0) had a nasty bug with the configuration files (or was the ASPI uaescsi.device emulation crash bug?! Hmmm...) that when i selected one configuration that i already had it immediately crashed on me. I reinstalled it, using that same config file... bang! Reinstalled it again and started a new configuration from scratch and it worked the first time but when i started it again with that fresh config file... bang!

This version fixed that. Other than this previous 'bug' i haven't noticed anything "strange" yet.

Thank you Toni!

I'm not planning to use windows on my systems ever again, so I wish Tony could make a 100% Linux Wine compatible version. Perhaps a UAE Live CD...
