The decision to introduce the 733 Mhz version is really simple, there aren't enough 800 Mhz boards to meet market demand, which is higher we expect it to be.
Therefore instead to have all potential customers to wait in vain for the 800 Mhz version, the 733 Mhz was introduced.
To be noted that the 10% higher DDR clock compensate, in most cases, the slower 733 Mhz cpu.

About the "orphaned hardware" you're still covered with a full 2 years warranty. and again, if you feel your hardware is faulty, I suggest you to install Linux, check if the board is fully functional with it, and return it in case it isn't.

We already knew the 800MHz were in short supply, now we can order a 733 with faster memory instead, that ISN'T in short supply. Get real, people.

I welcome the availiability of faster SAM with faster RAM and faster CPU (then 677Mhz versions). It might not be the miracle, but one step at the time.

I assume during time this will become the standard EP440 Flex board

When there will be a newer CPU with PCI-E is on Acube, but since
chipset and CPU do exist, I would like to see estimated price, if newer
model is ever gonna be produced, or it would take some more time with
EP440 to make it financially viable.

After all, if 700Mhz CPU can handle DivX,mp3,Internet, DVD ... I can wait for some raytrace. My last Amiga had 28Mhz

Don't be too dissppointed that people come back with a generally negative reponse as that is unfortunately just how people can sometimes be - we expect that. You can expect it a little more with the Amiga community as people have been let down so many times. Likewise you might expect more tolerance from others as they realise this is just a small market and we have learnt to expect ups and downs although I by no means see the announcement of 733MHz Flex as a down.

Excellent news that sales are doing so well you have to source the new CPU. Also I think the fact you have come on here and expained things to customers/prospective customers is a good sign and will give people more confidence to buy.

Fair enough.

I was just under the impression if they are selling so well, and not meeting demand expectations, they may have been able to in between develop some hardware for the Amiga user group by now, to atleast be in the middle range now also.

AND

So far, I havent seen many comments that dont suport the 7oo+MHZ sam, more comments on reality of what many of the Amiga users would actually like to see at this point in time from Acube systems.

Maybe it's time to sell my Sam440ep 667 to buy this Flex. This will start the market of used Sams

Most impressive. Most of you may know that it's the new memory system in AmigaOS 4.1 that makes things go a lot faster, and it seems that ACube have taken well care of that part.

SAM is the highest quality AmigaOS capable product since Petro's days and it is in production and faster memory helps a little the lack of L2 cache and...

Sure, also I am interested in faster, better, cheaper, but I understand the need of patience in this small niche.

Sorry for the abrasive response to your announcement but since purchasing my SAM Flex I have spent most of my computer time testing and applying workarounds etc. The Hyperion update has gone a long way toward alleviating problems but the whole process has been frustrating. I did receive a Linux install disk from AmigaKit but when I realized that the install would take place over the Internet on my dialup connection, I didn't think that it would work very well. I may find another way to install it since installing Debian seemed to improve OS4 operation for a couple of people. I don't know why that would be unless the dual OS system has a better bootloader.

Do you mean that having 3 choices (1 EP + 2 Flex models) is worse than having nothing at all like you had since the A1s dismission? I completely agree with Olegil on this.

They serve you whatever they want, when they want, and you say "thanks". For me, "No, thanks".

I'm not blaming Acube, I totally admire them really for their hard work providing us with new hardware to run the latest AmigaOS version, but I think they don't have the marketing that they might have.

I have Sam440ep till October last year, and I have to say to you that I'm fully satisfied. I was planning to buy the new Sam440Flex at 800MHz, but now I have to hold my purchase.

You cannot understand what I'm saying. I don't blame you, don't worry. The problem is not the hardware etc etc, the problem (for me) is how they present it to the customers. I was waiting for AmigaKit to bring the new Flex 800MHz to buy it, but, alas, no 800MHz version anymore. Do I have to take the 733 then? I don't think so.

And what about the demand? They don't know, that with their efforts, the Amiga community is going bigger and bigger (in my opinion)? So why not 800MHz versions anymore? I really can pay them, whatever they want, so they can produce me a new Flex above 1.2GHz. Will they accept that?
