Announcement   Announcement : Hyperion announces "strategic" partnership with A-EON
posted by Petah on 20-Feb-2010 19:40:58 (12954 reads)
In a somewhat surprising announcement on its homepage, AmigaOS developer Hyperion Entertainment has just announced a "strategic" partnership with hardware manufacturer A-EON Technology. A short communiqué states that the forthcoming AmigaOne X1000 platform will sport a custom chipset with "unparalleled flexibility and scalability" capable of running AmigaOS 4.1, currently undergoing further development.

@sundown

No reason now...the Amiga market is the best it's been since C=.

Sure, there are problems, probably the biggest is lack of developers. But you can't fault anyone for trying to revive things.

I thought they would have waited until start of March for the announcement.

Oh well, "no Complaints, Noble Leader"

So many of us are now eager to buy the high end hardware.

Cool

I love this announcement.

Now all we need is news that someone is making a video editing and DVD authoring package with Hollywood or something. I'd start singing Nessun Dorma (badly) if that happened!

It's about time some interesting news has been posted. It's been awhile since anything remotely interesting or really newsworthy has come. Still, I'm upbeat and hoping that something good will come from it. If new hardware does come out that's current, I'd be impressed.

I love such useless, meaningless announcements creating buzz...

a-eon.com which claim to be the official hopepage for the new hardware from "A-Eon", according to its whois DNS record, has Ben Hermans as its owner, and Thomas Frieden as its admin. Both well known for their affiliation with Hyperion in the past 10+ years now, obviously.

To sum it up, it's nice to known, that they're teaming up with themselves. Sigh.

(ps: Obviously, i'm just a blue troll. So please ignore me, and keep being happy with the announcement.)

Quite a number of people complained about the lack of public and official announcements regarding the AmigaOne X1000. This is hereby corrected.

Note that A-ON is not Hyperion, it is not because there is single person who is also a director of the company involved, that this means that Hyperion controls or owns A-EON, quite the contrary.

A-EON is legally independent corporation and Hyperion does not hold any shares in A-EON and vice versa.

Otherwise there would be no need to announce a strategic partnership.

then why bother writing here ? is it that boring at the blue end that you just have to write here? ... just like youngsters trashing public property with the excuse "we don't have any thing to do"...

here's a suggestion, why not counter with an MorphOS news like you guys usually do...

yes, but you know that new toy the old toy is forget, and I don't like that this situation we have with ACube we need to both companies with their new hardwares for Amiga OS, MorphoOS, AROS or Linux.

Seriously, what are you talking about? Where does it say that the deal between Hyperion and A-Eon is exclusive? How do you draw the conclusion?

The announcement was not made to create buzz, it was made because people were having doubts and wanted official confirmation of the fact that Hyperion is indeed going to bring OS4 to the A-EON hardware and so they got it, as well as a confirmation of the fact that porting of the best ever AmigaOS to the X1000 is already underway.

As others have said, this merely officially tells us what we unofficially already knew. But as a few people have serious doubt problems (*), hence the announcement. (* = I have no idea why.)

Not really sure what you mean? I don't think the X1000 is vapor and will see a release shortly - I just wondered why it was 'surprising'. Perhaps I misunderstand you.

That's not really the intention although I understand what you mean. Hyperion have to do this to make the link to A-Eon official - they are not using this to create 'buzz' - they don't need to.

It's not their fault we all wanted to start a thread on it.
