Announcement   Announcement : Hyperion announces "strategic" partnership with A-EON
   posted by Petah on 20-Feb-2010 19:40:58 (12942 reads)
In a somewhat surprising announcement on its homepage, AmigaOS developer Hyperion Entertainment has just announced a "strategic" partnership with hardware manufacturer A-EON Technology. A short communiqué states that the forthcoming AmigaOne X1000 platform will sport a custom chipset with "unparalleled flexibility and scalability" capable of running AmigaOS 4.1, currently undergoing further development.

"what happen now with ACube? "

To me it seems that ACube will have more Amiga stuff to sell & able to do more business than before!

Sometimes you just can't win. Hyperion don't make an official announcement on their website - conclusion A1-X1000 is vaporware. Hyperion do make an official announcement - conclusion meaningless buzz.... go figure.

@TrevorD

I'ts hard to satisfy the amigans :).

We have learned to trust hyperion. We will do the same for A-eon. Can't hold the breath to see further developments.

@TrevorDick
@Rogue
@HyperionMP

Anyone following this site would know the amigans ARE DYING to get more info, so of course this partnership info isn't going to rock peoples world...it was quite obvious really. You can't reason with some of the people here no matter what you do, but the majority who trusts you and humbly waits for new info shouldn't be hit by your team taking special note to stupid threads like vaporware thread, etc. You should be prof enough to know when you should ignore a thread.

This is the internet age, and it should be relatively easy to sneak out a teaser/tiny bit of status once a week. Not like before some 20 years ago, where printed magazines was the only way. You guys should embrace that opportunity to create buzz, and not let yourself scare off by some individuals who only want to spoil the party.

DON'T LET THEM SPOIL THE PARTY.....THEY DID IT FOR ENOUGH YEARS ALREADY

This website you talk about...what can we expect from it? - will it give us more information about the X1000 (vital information/development status, etc.)

it is not because there is single person who is also a director of the company involved, that this means that Hyperion controls or owns A-EON, quite the contrary.

When two distinguished Brits and a Belgian form a company, and the company ends up being a Belgian company headquartered in the Belgian's home --- then the Belgian seems to have quite some pull in the partnership.

Of course, that indeed does not mean that there is any connection to Hyperion, seeing as the Belgian in question apparently severed all formal ties with Hyperion years ago....

Sounds like Hyperion has been developing OS 4 for X1000 for a while. How is this different from a "strategic partnership"? Is there more software than the OS in the works -- like decent office software? That would be nice.

Some times it is easier to register and administer a holding company nearer to the lawyer or accountant involved as he or she will do most of the paperwork.

And also that said lawyer is far more familiar with the law in his juristidiction than from another country.

It is certainly getting this way at times. And to be honest, I am getting more than a little fed up with certain people constantly derailing or "raining on others parades" every time there is any kind of news posted on here.

I have stated more than enough times that the "colour wars" are in the past....been gone...best left there. It is tiresome that whenever any kind of news about anything AmigaOS or Amiga (NG) hardware related is posted, that this has to be taken as a time to derail that. Opinions on things accompanied by constructive criticisms we can tolerate, but the endless tirade of vapour this or other insinuations are now wearing even my patience thin.

I have asked politely in the past for things to remain on topic and civil. Clearly I wasn't making myself that well heard. Simply put, if you find yourself moderated (especially if by me), you will have crossed the line.

Don't take it as if everyone is unhappy or interpreting these news in a negative way, the truth is, those that do that are well known fellas, you can count them on your two hands fingers and they are basically always the same guys saying the same things.
The Biggest majority (like in "everyone but 10 people") are happy to know of further progress (specially that tidbit about infos on the X1000 coming shortly ).
