Software News   Software News : Hollywood 4.7 demo version available
posted by softwarefailure on 14-Jun-2010 16:09:57 (5306 reads)
Due to popular request, a demo version of Hollywood 4.7 is now available for download on the official Hollywood portal site at http://www.hollywood-mal.com. The demo is limited in features and does only run 30 days. And it is only available for Windows. There will be no Amiga demo version because it's just too much work to prepare and test demo versions for all the different Amiga platforms out there. Sorry for that.

Everyone who is interested in Hollywood please just try the Windows version to see if you like it. The Amiga version is exactly the same as the Windows version except that there is no IDE. Instead of an IDE, there is just a frontend allowing you to compile and run scripts. Cubic IDE or Codebench are suitable IDEs for Hollywood development on AmigaOS and compatibles.

I doubt that !

It is the surely only sane thing to do when they support all sort of amgias and morphOS- to spend making a demo to each system would take alot of time.

I guess most people would be able to try out the demo on a windows-machine and then decide wether or not to buy the amiga-version :)

Congratulation with the demo !

Torgeir :)

^^ Be assured that there is no switch to the Windows platform. In fact, we're already working on The Next Big Thing(tm) and this will be Amiga only. But don't tell anyone :) So no worries, guys. The lack of an Amiga demo version is really just a time issue. Given the complexity of Hollywood, preparing a nice demo version for all the different platforms would take at least one week full time work. And that's just more than I can sacrifice currently.

@Voodoo

The first step the transition to Win platform.... the next thing is to transition Voodoo to windows :)

About Hollywood i think its good that its on windows too. Why... its probably on more desktop systems then adobe flash. And it works :) how much flash do we have on miggy. maybe using hollywood browser plugin in future :)

Hi,

a Amiga-demo would be cool, even if ti was just an 68k built, that would probably run on all plattforms? Would be enough for a demo... :)

CU,
Mario

Sure... you can also use it to make an FTL drive, generate anti-gravity fields around your Amiga, and have it teleport matter through the internet.

Despite the smiley's, you may be right

Someone predicted that (like all previous Amiga software to go Windows) the Amiga platform would gradually get less & less effort as the developer realised they got far more return from the Windows version. You could see this "Amiga is too much effort for just a demo" to be the first step along this path.

with all limitations of this demo, it's unusable :(

windows software with time limit are complete in features..

maybe author has fear that in 30 days someone could create a software to change the world without to pay the software

I knew it, as soon as a Windows version of anything appears, the Amiga one is being relegated.

The next step will be dropping the Amiga version entirely

I am just hope Andreas will not take serious the rubbish posts that says how he will stop Amiga development. What is the reason and purpose of that posts?

Please think first, and post after...

Why people almost always forgot that Hollywood for Windows is capable to compile the programs for Amiga too?

Then any developer could port immediately its software created with Hollywood on Amiga too...

And he/she could do that without knowing anything of Amiga programming and no any need to learn fom scratch how to code on Amiga.

Unfortunately history shows that every other application that added a Windows version quickly dropped the Amiga version, regardless of what was said at the time

Maybe not immediatley but certainly later.

Does anyone really think that people running the Windows version will bother to complie Amiga versions of their creations, I very much doubt it.

The writing is on the wall, like it or not.
