Hardware News   Hardware News : ARM Controllers for Minimig's boards Finally Available !
posted by Faranheit on 24-Jul-2010 7:33:05 (2932 reads)
Hi Everybody ;)

After many months of work, tests, discussion ....., I can finally provide the ARM controllers again for your Minimig's boards (v1.1).

You can see in the following video how it changes the behaviour of original board !

This controller affords many improved features like :
- 40MHz Turbo mode for your 68000 processor : excellent when using HDF files (hardfiles), it can manage 2 hardfiles (instead of one with original PIC controller),
- Faster starting up your board instead of 8 / 10 second with your original PIC,
- SPI mode support if your board is modified for it : this mode improves a lot the read access rate of your SD card up to 1700KB/sec instead of 150KB/sec !
- Firmware upgradable directly from the SD Card, no more serial cable needed !
- Games / Demos Compatibility largely improved .....
The ARM controller is at 69 euros (VAT included, WITHOUT shipping costs).

Also, I still have the VGA to scart cables available at 25 euros.

Please send me an email at direction@ngi-info.com for ordering ;)

Thanks for all your support and for your patience for those who have preordered it !

A BIG special THANKS to Jakub Bednarski for all his help and also to Sascha (Boing4000) for his hard work too !

Laurent aka Faranheit

Great accomplishment, and really nice video!

By the way, is Loriano's case still available?

Cheers,

Hi :)

Unfortunately, the Minibox from Loriano Pagni are no longer available.

A new batch of Minimig's board will be available in 2 / 3 weeks for informations.

A new board is not planned at all.

Thanks, Laurent aka Faranheit
P.S. : I can send the ARM controllers anywhere in the world for informations :)

I've seen the video, But what is the connector on the side of the card ? Looks like a HDMI output. There's no hole (made) in the minimig case for it, so will it be used later on ?

Hi X303,

The connector you can see on the side of the card is only a mini USB port.

It's used in order to program the ARM controllers for the first time ONLY with a PC and the appropriate software. It replaces the serial cable for example.

For later firmware upgrade, it's absolutely NOT used, all newer firmware upgrades are made directly from the SD Card.

For those who wants a complete Minimig, please send me an email, I'll be able to propose some complete configurations with crystal case, arm controller and vga to scart cable !

Thanks, Laurent aka Faranheit
