Good to hear news of progress as always. Look forward to the next alpha, sounds promising.

Using Firefox 4 final on Ubuntu since last last week and it's defiantly an improvement on version 3 so look forward to using on AmigaOS. However, having just installed Chrome as well I'm tempted to switch, does seem that bit quicker than Firefox.

I am a little mystified by the new 'AppTabs' though, seem pretty useless to me.

It's great that such a major app is coming to the Amiga. Not sure if OWB does this already but having a modern browser opens up things like Google Docs and other online applications thereby filling a few of the (admittedly huge) gaps the Amiga has in its modern software portfolio.

What are the chances of such perfect synchronisation?

@retro

Firefox 4.0 supports youtube via HTML5 and this is a port of Firefox 4.0.

It only supports videos available as WebM, though, which is still far from being the majority.
That's the reason why it's nice to support H264 codec as well in the meanwhile, but they can't due to patent issues (or whatever).

Also WebM is noticably slower than H264 with current ffmpeg or libvpx, but this is another story.

@Fab

And on top of that not all videos are available in other formats than using Flash, right?

Anyway, what works works but it won't be perfect unless a well performing flash plugin are released or MPlayer are fixed (for AOS that is).

One can argue if playing youtube videos with mplayer is a perfect solution but at least to me it works well enough, only issue I have with it right now is that it doesn't exit cleanly and requires a reboot.

Anyway, that's off topic now but there will be better options ot watch youtube-files in the future and that's great.

OWB-MUI seems to handle this really well on MOS so looking forward to that to happen on AOS as well.

Great stuff! I know this is a bit of a long shot, but will Timberwolf support hardware-accelerated rendering (eg via MiniGL) like FireFox on Windows?
