Miscellaneous News   Miscellaneous News : Airsoft Softwair online store closes July 31th, 2012
posted by softwarefailure on 18-Jul-2012 10:19:19 (5437 reads)
Due to personal reasons the Airsoft Softwair online store has to close at the end of July 2012. This means that no more orders can be processed after 31th July, 2012. Thus, everybody who doesn't own Hollywood or Hollywood Designer yet (or still needs the upgrade to the latest versions) should take the opportunity to secure himself a personal copy of this amazing multimedia software NOW because the store will go down on July 31th, 2012. The download versions are delivered instantly via email/WWW download and the CD versions of Hollywood and Hollywood Designer come in a nice digipak. Thank you for your continued support over the last 15 years!

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I don't understand what this means?

Is this a temporary shut down to take care of some personal issues?

A permanent shut down of all Airsoft software products with no chance for any further updates?

Will the software be released as Open Source so it can be continued by others?

Or is this just that Andreas has decided to abandon the Amiga community and move on to more profitable projects in the Windows and MacOSX, or even Linux communities?

It would be nice to have a better explanation about what is going on after all the work that has gone into the Hollywood and Hollywood Designer products.

I wonder if Andreas feels that he has gone as far as he can with the Hollywood products, or if he has just lost interest in working on it and wants to move on to something more profitable, or more interesting and challenging for him?

Sorry for all the speculation, it is just that after investing in all of Airsoft's products for years, I would like to know what has happened to cause Airsoft to shutdown so suddenly.

"Some clarifications:
1. Development will go on. Updates and new plugins are already in the pipeline.
2. All Internet sites of Airsoft Softwair and Hollywood will stay online except the store.
3. The store will go down at the end of July for an indefinite time. "Indefinite" may mean temporarily or for good. I honestly can't tell at this time.
4. If you are interested in Hollywood/Hollywood Designer, I strongly recommend you to buy the package now. That's why I made this announcement after all. I don't want to disappoint anyone. That's why I'm telling you straight away that I won't be able to process any more orders after the end of this month. So here's your chance to grab your personal copy.
5. I understand that the lack of information concerning the store closure is unsatisfactory but please understand and respect that I can't tell anything more at this time. I also won't comment on any speculations.
6. Reports of Hollywood's death are greatly exaggerated.

I paid the upgrade today, and received it by email/download as well.

So far, so good.

But under install, it asked for my original CDROMs.
I don't know where they are...

So I have sent an email reply to Sir Falkenhahn asking for help.

I used my other update ISO files to install Hollywood 4 VideuUP and
Designer 2, and installed Hollywood 5 and Designer 4 on top.
All well, installer just keeps asking for these CDROMs...

I guess Andreas and I can sort it out...

As it looks like its now or never I have just order the Ultimate pack on CD with both the Amiga and Windows versions.

I can't really afford it at the moment but I have been wanting this software since I first read a review of an early version when I first got my sam440ep and OS4.1 a few years ago.

I just hope my CDs get shipped before the closes down completely.

Well, I've sat on the fence for years over this software and I've now decided to put my money where my mouth is, even if I never use either Hollywood or Designer.
Just ordered.
All the very best of luck, Andreas and thank you for your hard work.

Sitting on the fence no longer. I bought the digipak versions of both Hollywood and Designer.

I didn't realise that the one version runs on all Amiga systems natively, including x86 Aros.

That means I can take it with me on my netbook when I'm working away (and have a go with it on either IcAros or Amikit).
