Comi... does the SharkPPC card exist?

Great to see Elbox continuing to support the Amiga. Incredible considering the age of the hardware... Congratulations Elbox...

@QuBe

No doesn't, but I simply can't resist :D
Good for new option for A3000Di users, but false marketing over a decade with Shark PPC is unacceptable.
Last board is Mediator 1200TX from 2008 (revision of 1200SX). Over a 4 year after, they produce new baoard with PCI 2.2 for A3000Di.
Is this a hardware of regret?

I buy in 2000 a Elbox Tower with 4000 mediator ...
because elbox speak about corelogic and shark
at that time there inst the core logic for mediator but only the pci slots and was unusable...

I sell my machine (2003) after wait more of 3 years for the corelogic ... they made it but shark not ...
Now we are in 2013 after 13 years Sharkppc isnt release, elbox is selling fog in london

Story with Shark last until 2011, then they removed pictures from site, and from web store, price, etc

@comi

Obviously they figured it was about time to get some cash in, and they've probably mostly saturated the market for every other machine than the A3000.

I honestly don't see any obvious reason for mockery at THIS NEWS ITEM.

The whole SharkPPC story is just silly, I'll agree with that

@olegil

I agree with you. This is for sure most advanced PCI solution for A3000.

But I don't have many chance for mockery of Elbox and Shark PPC
This is maybe last becouse I think this is the end of their hardware solutions :)

I simply can't forget 10 years of Shark PPC, Dragon Coldfire, mockery and underestimating others solutions like Promatheus , G Rex, Poseidon drivers Spider/NEC, VGR, highly priced Radeons from their shop.. etc

Their contribution for Amiga Classics is high, but equal to their s* policy and behavior

I bought the A4000 desktop version of this years ago and it was one of the best expansions I ever bought. The ability to keep using Zorro cards and use PCI cards with the desktop case opens up so many expansion options. Get this, a Radeon card, Spider USB (if you don't already have a Deneb) and a Soundblaster and away you go.

You can network by hanging a $10 USB-Ethernet dongle off the Spider/USB.

The A3000D is one of the best looking Amiga models ever made, I always found it regrettable there wasn't a specific mediator designed to accommodate it's case like was available for the A4000D. This is very good news for owners, especially those that always wanted a mediator but couldn't bring themselves to ditching the original desktop case.

Why you blame Elbox for vaporware? I think that you have to thank them that they still produce Amiga hardware even now. If you start to blame Elbox, then why not blame MacroSystems, Phase5, DCE and many others with vapor hardware as well? Be reasonable.

I think the Shark blew up for a few different reasons.

Firstly, they couldn't get the Sonnet G3/G4 cards (which is all the "shark" was) to work with any Amiga PCI solution.

Secondly, they couldn't secure a steady supply of them - Sonnet had very thin supplies back a decade ago, and they certainly don't now.

@TheDungeonDelver
Perheps that are the main resons..But...
They underestimate their costumers until couple of years without any update of status..
And after a presure to stop with false marketing, they wipeout baners with SharkPPC, prices, pictures..
They are doing a lot for Amiga expandibility, but have wrong policy in area of PPC cards and promises of producing it..
Couple of affairs also, drivers...SpiderUSB, Sirion, VGR

@phantom

because he always has tried to blacklist Elbox, thats why.

as for the whole sharkppc story... yes a major disgrace but seeing how that tiny company still produce hardware for our Amiga deserves a little bit more than old rants.

@all

as for the USB stack story and the "destroy data" stories, another really bad thing and one i think hurt Elbox more than the sharkppc.

as for Promethus , sounds like someone in here has been misinformed but then again that might be me but all these fights that elbox have got itself into over the last decade is pretty much their own fault although fanboyism and armchair lawyers and neysayers have been one of the many reasons for all of Elbox's actions.

PS: i am still mad at elbox for not giving us the dragon and the sharkppc but at the same time i am very happy they gave us the Mediator and FastATA as without them i might have left the Amiga in the late 90's / early 2k's..
