Good to hear former developers are encouraged to update their software.
I just hope the installer for future programs will not require what many old ones do; need this, that and 100 other small tweaks to get to work.
Archives that contain everything needed to make it run from the installation (like on.....peeceee) would be great

Nice, but would be useful also to improve our crappy CLI. Its ancient and unproductive.

From looking at the list it's either going to be a bargain so users can justify buying it for just a couple of programs or it's going to be horrendously expensive specially if you have already bought MultiViewer and Candi etc.

Progams which you already own but are apart of a bundle are deducted from the total basket price or at least thats how it works with other products in the AppStore so I fail to see how this would be different.

As for the CLI it got upgraded in FE now it has everything KingCON had and more including tabbed windows. It truly is the best CLI I've encountered.

Call me old fashioned but to pay for a bunch of utilities that would be either free in the long ago or should just be part of the (paid for) OS?

The console handler/device is not the CLI.

Ok the package contain high quality software, X-Dock, TuneNet, MultiViewerNG etc, all of them are stable, complete and full of features, in one word: superb !
However i can't understand the idea to sell those programs into an external package that is separated from the main OS, it's a nonsense really ... when a user buy OS4 he should found all that software already built-in and in their latest revision

The idea to buy an external product just to found an updated version of the FileSystem or a new Ringhio thing i..., well it's not smart idea imho

But quality is pretty fine, not a problem with that

Yes, sure but you know well that Hyperion will not do that.

So maybe that the only solution is that another company find peoples to create/enhance softwares. And as you said, there are some very good programs in this package !

Isnt AeonKit's projects separated from Hyperions OS effort?

Trevor has been hammering "content content" etc, which is what they are providing. And I can only assume it cost money (espesially if you want an accelerated (in amiga terms) process).

Yes, and it totally makes sense to charge for (some of) these programs. Multiviewer for example is a complete new thing, not an update to Multiview, so it's not an "I've already paid for this with the OS" sort of thing.

TuneNet was free and having to pay for an update is annoying, but I get the rationale here so it's OK.

However, SFS and Ringhio are part of the OS and it jars to have to pay to get updates to these. Classes and DataTypes (unspecified) potentially could fall into the same bracket here. As an aside, I'd like to know what it means by "Classes" (yes, I know what they are), as unless they're freely distributable or included with the OS, there's no point as nobody will use them.

Hopefully the price is reasonable so it only feels like paying for Multiviewer, MultiEdit etc, and just having some OS bugfixes thrown in for free.

Hi (because I've been away from a long time) and...

Congratulations for this software!!!

I think Amiga need this things, good software, people behind it developing and last of course people like you or the Amiga comunnity that wants to buy it.

Hope I can sell my Amiga One that is broken but still being usable,I think it could be a bargain for one he wants to resurrect it and then I can maybe buy an A1-X5000.

That would be a dream machine,I have my best expectations on this

I hope I can make my dreams come true.

Good work of A-Eon for the ones that want to use updated and cool software, for Amiga One or Amiga 1200 for example.

Congratulations

I am sure you have made a good work,A-Eon probably but the fact is that is out and I want my Amiga 1200 or X5000 at my home one when it arrives and the other if i'll be released.

I hope you are working on it (as you said the A1200 motherboard worked better out of the tower that inside it)

And all becomes better than when it was sent last year/early this year.Expect to have a fully working stable A1200 machine.

Wish you the best

newlight Amiga user for the best and the worse (like it was the A1 even in its best times)

Thanks

Or maybe just include them in a new OS update and then ask a few buck for them no ? ... by doing that you will update all current OS4 users around with all recent components ... this seems pretty logic expecially if we are talking about OS alike components like SFS, Ringhio and all that misterious new classes and datatypes mentioned ...

Chris explained that perfectly (post #15)

@Chris_Y, Samo79

I'm with you here guys.

I have the same belly aches thinking about some of the contents of this package.

Namely FFS2, Classes, Datatypes and Ringhio/Notification.

Those are(were?) part of the OS, functional updates, bug fixes and additions should still be part of the OS and come with an OS update imho.

Selling them in a seperately available, to be paid for, package makes me fear that i'll get answers like such in the future when reporting bugs or problems in those programs:

"Did you install(buy) the Enhancer package yet?"

...if i refuse to do so i'll be locked out of further progress.

While i understand that they have to create revenue it's bad practice to rip out parts of the OS, update them and sell them outside the OS.

I too would rather pay for future OS updates than these external packages.

Having said that i fear of an upcoming "Acceleration Software Package" which consists of speed improvements to vital OS parts and software (i.e. AmiPDF) and has a kernel update which supports SMP within.

Again, no problem with new software sold seperately...integral OS parts should stay that, OS updates.

...

and while it would be nice to have programs i already bought (CANDI) get to decrease the overall price of the package, i doubt it very much
