software OS4   software OS4 : SDK Browser v2.0.0.100 released to registered owners
posted by JamieKrueger on 9-Dec-2016 5:11:23 (7318 reads)
Hello Everyone,

I am pleased to announce that the
first new release of the SDK Browser for AmigaOS4 in 10 years,
is now available for immediate download by all registered owners.

[Link to full size screenshot]

Version 2.0.0.100 is a Release Candidate for the upcoming
SDK Browser v2.1.0.0,
which is intended to go public before Christmas this year.

This new version contains several important updates over the last public release (v1.6.0.0).
One of the most significant updates is the move to using newer style AmigaDOS API calls for
all file scanning and directory browsing functions, which now means that the SDK Browser
fully supports 64-BIT filesystems and hence very large drives.

Here is a brief overview of new features found in v2:
o Updated and built for the latest AmigaOS4 SDK
o Tested under AmigaOS4.1 FE [Update 1]
o Support for 64-BIT Filesystems
o New (STRUCT)ure browsing
o User settable Fonts and displayed Tab lengths
o Dynamic target screen selector
o Mouse Wheel Variable Acceleration Mode
o Enhanced user preference settings
o New "Find Files (in dir)"
o New "Search (in Search Results)"
o New "Open in File Browser"
o New "Open in Workbench window..."
o More...

For more information, visit www.bitbybitsoftwaregroup.com.

** SPECIAL NOTE to all registered owners of either the SDK Browser
or the AVD Suite: If you have not already received a direct email
about this release, please contact me at: jamie@bitbybitsoftwaregroup.com
to update your contact information. Thanks.

Best Regards,

YES, I do plan to offer both AVD and FreeAVD components via the AmiStore
as they become available, starting with the SDK Browser v2.1.0.0.

In additional to the AVD work, I am also doing some work for A-EON right
now; but I will see about getting it on the AmiStore before Christmas if
possible.

Best Regards,

@JamieKrueger

Holy cow! So good to see this update. I've been using the free version for years and it really helped me with my projects. Thank you so much for your work and I'll be buying it as soon as possible.

Hi Michael,

The jamie@bitbybitsoftwaregroup.com email is correct, so if your messages
are being returned please send me a full copy of the bounce message you
received to my personal email at:

jamiekrueger0220@gmail.com

and I will look into it to see if a blacklist problem exists for my mail server
to your provider.

UPDATE: SDK Browser v2.0.0.115 has now been released to registered owners.

This version contains a couple of minor bug fixes and a few new features.
It is also likely to be the last private update before being release as v2.1.0.0
to the general public (sometime before Christmas).

Once released, first time customers will be able to purchase v2.1.0.0 for
$24.95 (US Dollars), and will receive free updates through v3.0.0.0.

Existing owners will receive v2.1.0.0 as a free update, but will also have
the option to upgrade to stay current and receive free updates through
v3.0.0.0 as well. The upgrade cost is discounted to $14.95 (US Dollars).

I am still missing current contact information for several registered owners,
so if you have registered the SDK Browser (or purchased the AVD Suite
at the PRE-SALE rate in the past), and you have not already received update
emails from me, please contact me at jamie@bitbybitsoftwaregroup.com to
update your contact information and ensure that you get your software.

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Jamie Krueger

I have just released the SDK Browser v2.1.0.0,
in both Commercial and FREEWARE versions,
for everyone!

Also, as promised, the purchase link for the
SDK Browser is back up, including the special
upgrade rate for existing registered owners
wanting to stay current with all releases past
v2.1.0.0 through to v3.0.0.0.

Download it here: SDK Browser v2.1.0.0

The updated feature list can be found here: SDK Browser v2.1.0.0 - README

Enjoy!

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for trying the software, and finding this issue.

I was able to duplicate the problem here, that when the FREEWARE
version of the software is quit, if you have AmiDock running it will
bail out at the same time.

I suspect the issue centers around registering/unregistering the
application with the system via the Application library, and a possible
shared resource issue.

After further testing I was able to confirm that this problem only
effects the FREEWARE release
, and not the Registered or AVD
build. This almost certainly means that something was omitted by
mistake in the FREEWARE release. All versions are built from the
same sources, and I use some compiler directives to make each
version build a little differently.

I have be working to eliminate as much use of those directives
as possible, and in this case either something was omitted that
should not have been, or left in when it should not be there.

At either rate, the obvious immediate solution is to purchase
the registered version
and run that.

Just kidding of course, I am working to trace down the source
and will be posting another update to the FREEWARE version
as soon as it is resolved.

Best Regards,
Jamie Krueger
