hardware Classic   hardware Classic : Mediator pci.library 12.0
posted by DJS on 31-Aug-2017 15:35:09 (2204 reads)
The new version of pci.library for all Mediator models has been released today.

The pci.library ver. 12.0 allows to set the PCI space of Mediators working in the MMU mode as noncachable. It's controlled by Envarc:Mediator/NoCache variable.

At the same time we are releasing the beta version of the pci.library 13.0. It supports additional PCI space for PCI processor cards in Mediator 1200 TX.

Pci.library 12.0 and 13.0 can be downloaded from the Mediator software page.

Information on the current versions is available in the DOWNLOADS | Mediator section. The current list of supported PCI cards is available in the Mediator Driver Guide. Information about Mediator-related sources you will find in the COMMUNITY section.

Well what is the point? "PCI" in 2007, should this not be "PCI express" instead? And its bit expensive for just a expansion card, instead trying expand a computer with lots bottleneck, way not do complete computer, put minimig on it, and make it full computer.

I, on the other hand, appreciate any updates that current developers create to keep my awesome Amiga 1200 Tower functioning.

Long Live Elbox! (seriously, my Amiga 1200 Tower needs you guys)

The update is for the existing product line all of which are PCI based. Which is the point.

If you are saying you want PCI Express instead, go ahead and develop such an add-on, sell it, and market it.

Continued updates for existing customers who spent their hard earned money on the Elbox PCI Mediator product is a good thing, especially after all these years, one can't really complain.

There is lots of other things to complain about, trust me, but this is not one of them.

The first Mediator boards are 17 years old now. Great support from Elbox.

@HammerD

At first no one commented, the news items were sitting here for days with any response from anyone, so I assumed no one was interested in this product anymore.

What do you do if your selling last year's model, well you get upgrade to this year's model and sell that instead, you sell out all old stuck, and move on.

That does not happen in the Amiga world, the result of world might move over to optical networking, but Amiga community is steal using null modem cables to get on the internet, and dial up modems.

There has been slight revisions over the Mediator 's product line. I do not mind, any update is good news.

The Mediator PCI (1200TX) solution is a god send for me. With my 060/PPC A1200 Tower system the Mediator with Voodoo/Radeon Graphics, 10/100 Mb Ethernet, 16 Bit Sound card and Spider USB 2.0 runs very well... and all at a pretty good price. Elbox has enabled my Amiga 1200 classic to continue to be useful and productive 20+ years after it's inception.

Elbox, you Rock. Keep up the awesome work.
