Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : A500 512KB MEMORY RAM TRAPDOOR EXPANSION NEW FROM AMIGA KIT
posted by amigakit on 18-May-2019 10:44:41 (2250 reads)
A500™ 512Kb RAM trapdoor memory expansion. - new revision available

This high quality, low cost memory expansion doubles your Commodore Amiga 500 computer's memory. Extra memory is essential for many games which require 1MB of RAM to work.

System RAM will be increased from the standard 0.5MB (512kb) to 1MB (1 megabyte).

Installation is straight forward process: simply slot the A500™ memory expansion into the trapdoor slot. The trapdoor bay is covered by a small plastic door underneath the Commodore Amiga 500 computer which can be easily levered open. There is no need to unscrew, open or disassemble your computer.

Memory expansion features Real Time Clock header to install optional Real Time Clock module: available installed at special price below or available separately here.

Features:
0.5MB RAM to boost total system memory to 1MB
Memory auto configures with no drivers required
Header for optional Real Time Clock module: available installed at special price
LK1 jumper on board: used for enabling 1MB Chip RAM modifications (Agnus 8372 or higher required).
Two-page colour manual included

Commodore Amiga 500 Plus users: we have produced a separate 1MB memory expansion available here

Revision 2, updated from our original 2007 product design. Fully tested on revision 5 and 6A motherboards.

This product is manufactured by Amiga Kit offering high quality upgrades for your Amiga computer at good value, low prices. Copyright 2007-2019 AmigaKit Ltd.

Nice to have brand new 1mb with realtime clock powered by battery that won't eat your Amiga for £30.

Thanks a lot for your words of encouragement.

We have been the main supplier of Amiga hardware for 15 years and we have recently noticed in the last few years there are a lot of hobbyist / part time resellers emerging. A lot of the hardware they are selling is not of commercial quality. Of course this is fully understandable as it is assembled by "bedroom" sellers. What concerns us is that with the lower quality standards, the hardware also has high price points. The market prices have gone up a lot in the same period of time that hobbyist / part time sellers have starting supplying to our community.

To counteract this problem, we are producing a dozen quality Amiga hardware product lines in the next few months with low pricing. We hope this will restore quality levels in the marketplace and reduce price inflation of Amiga products we all need for our hobby.

I think these boards are a cheaper than the ones on offer in 1993 when I upgraded my A500+ to 2MB.

Great to see new hardware at affordable prices! If my A500+ was not sick I would get the 1mb expansion myself!

Any plans for some low cost A1200 accelerators? My ACA 1221 died recently :(
A sub £200 030 card would be nice...

Thanks very much for the words of encouragement.

We have plans to continue with Amiga 1200 expansions because there are a lot of low quality, high priced products on the market now.
