| APOLOGIES TO EVERYONE
Unfortunately I had no option but to remove all the posts on here.
This is a clear case of a unwelcome minority spoiling it for everyone else.
I brought this news item back onto the front page because, news shouldn`t be censored. AmigaWorld is here to provide a service to the Amiga Community. Plus of course, removing this Item from the front page would have been a win for the Anti-Amiga Brigade.
I am sorry that I had to remove all the posts on here, but felt I had no choice,

What were the risks of Amiga Inc losing the trademark in the first place?
What do you have to do in order to keep a trademark? |

Ben Hermans already explained that there was no real danger of the Amiga trademark ending up into malicious hands due to this neglect.

According to the US patent and trademark office:
"Rights in a federally-registered trademark can last indefinitely so long as the owner continues to use the mark to identify its goods or services and files all necessary documentation in the United States Patent and Trademark Office."

Here's an earlier quote from Ben Hermans with regard to the US market (also note that in Europe the trademark was still properly registered):

To the extent that the quoted database is even up to date, the fact that are or are not registered there doesn't prevent you from having a perfectly valid "common law" trademark under US law. |
