The PowerPC 405LP Reference Design is based on the IBM PowerPC 405LP embedded processor. Beyond that, three major hardware collaborations complete the design. Toshiba supplied the LCD screen, the Storage Device I/O (SDIO) controller, the SDIO Bluetooth card and open-source Linux drivers that enable peer-to-peer communications. M-Systems provided the NAND-based Disk-On-Chip and the open-source Linux drivers that combined with data encryption service (DES) enable secure storage of user data. Atmel supplied the Trusted Computing Platform Alliance (TCPA) chip, which enables encrypted storage, and use of digital signatures and boot sequences, following the standard set forth by the Trusted Computing Platform Alliance. The PowerPC 405LP Reference Design also supports a wide variety of Cellular and 802.11 network connections through its PCMCIA/CF slots.
