The Ariana STB running PPC and AROS doesn't seem kosher to me. Even by their own admission AROS doesn't run on PPC yet, so how can they base their system on it. Why wouldn't they go x86, even with some via board with most of the same features and assured AROS compatability. And is there even a UAE port for PPC Linux let alone PPC AROS.
Maybe AROS is a cover, for an OS4 based device....Tell me if you invested so much on producing for PPC on this, that you wouldn't go to AInc and want to call it an Amiga, and not license a port of OS4. You'd be adding value and brand name recognition. Honestly, the site used to go on about an A700 and ArianA starts and ends with A like AmigA. It's a cover, so we don't all get excited and pop our lids on these forums, and start clamouring for more info.
This makes even more sense in light of Garry's apparent distancing from Eyetech, and constant referral to the AmigaOne partners on even the most basic questions. I've always suspected he's been counting on a different hardware platform. He was unaware of specific A1 details when asked at Amiwest, like his plans do not count on them in the slightest.
Its a STB...It's probably this one. It's pretty cool.
Ok. Going back to my happy place now. _________________ Leo Nigro, CTO Commodore USA, LLC Opinions expressed are my own and not those of C= USA. Commodore/AMIGA "Beautiful, High-Performance, Home Computers for Creativity and Entertainment." |
