I am EXTREMELY happy to tell you that one of my most beloved music players
on the Amiga, Hippoplayer works with the recent hacks!

How to get Hippoplayer to work;

Run CIAgent.
Start Hippoplayer.
In Prefs/Ahi tick Enable AHI and Disable non-AHI replayers.
Chose Unit 0:HiFi 16 bit stereo++ as audio mode.
In Play-1/ tick VBlank timing.

Now try to play a mod of your choice and be amazed! ;)
The audio quality could be better, but we are getting there!

Thanx to Damien Stewart for CIAGent! Kicks ass!

As for Delitracker, install the EClock hack from this archive;
http://stephan-rupprecht.de/downloads/hacks.lha
And when installing Delitracker only install the -note players,
and then install the AHI-Noteplayer genie, and off you go! :D

Thanx to Stephan Rupprecht for the EClock patch! GREATLY appreciated!!!

Today was the day my AmigaOne got even closer to me, she really
is starting to feel like an Amiga now. *Smooch!*

@spotUP

thanks for the heads up! I'm using delitracker according to your instructions now... I cant believe I've got a nice way to play meds again.

you mentioned the sound quality for hippoplayer didnt sound that great. does it sound the same in delitracker too? (its sounds fine to my ears..)

EDIT: How do you make the AHI noteplayer become the default noteplayer? I've disabled all other noteplayers, and I've "forced" the ahi noteplayer.. but it doesnt seem to remember my genie settings even when I save it.. its very frustrating! Also, is there a way to auto load my playlist?
EDIT2: I found the default playlist config option....

Hippoplayer is my favorite OS3 music Mod player. But since moving to OS4, I've started using Tunenet instead. Try it out, and add the Blueshift plug in for a nice scope display. I do miss the Hipposcope though. :) - Lars

Heh, nice! With some more twisting and turning, I am able to play mp3 files and the sweet mods within one (68k) program.. again.

You don't need NallePuh since update 3 (I think it was). AFAIK audio.device has integrated Paula emulation now.

@spotUP

well imo hippolayer sounds much better,
try follow things:
1 go into the prefs
2 go to play-1
3 change the pt replayer to ps3m
4 goto ps3m
5 set the playmode to surround or realsurround or whatever you like. (yes hippoplayer is the only one who is somehow able to produce a sorroundsignal here on my sorroundsystem attached over a aux cable!)
6. set the mixinrate to 44.8
7. play a mod
8. experiment a bit with the stereo level in ps3m and ahi.

Same here.

For any funny formats, there is always UADE: http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=audio/play/uade-nicomen.lha

That's system-friendly paula-emulation. Won't help hardware banging stuff like games/demos/really old players.

I'm having a problem getting Delitracker to work. Ive got it so only the AHI-Noteplayer genie is available and when I load a mod I just get an initialization error. If I leave the paula genie active the mod plays but silently seeing as there is no paula chip.
Have I got the wrong AHI genie (the one from Aminet V1.8), if so where do I ge the right one. I've also tried the one with the 14bit genie but that just crashes.

For some reason I have been unable to get either Delitracker V2.32 or Hippoplayer v2.45 to work using the tools and methods you suggest. The programs come up, but I never get any sound. Are these the right versions for me to be trying, or are they perhaps too old?

Thanks,

Scott

@scabit

I know that you posted your question a month ago, but I just fiddled around and got Delitracker II working myself, so thought that I would post my findings for your (and other's) benefit.

I found that if I followed SpotUp's advice then my system would completely hang when I tried to play a module, requiring a hard reset. Even when I removed all DeliPlayers and DeliGenies except AHI I got the problem.

It turned out to be that I had to go into the Genies window and remove the built-in Paula noteplayer. Then it worked.

Unfortunately if you remove it and then save the settings then it is back the next time you run Delitracker. And if you go into the Paula noteplayer's config and deselect activate and then save its settings, then again it will be back and will crash when you next start Delitracker (even though the activate option is off). So the only way to make it work is to manually remove the Paula noteplayer every time you run Delitracker.

I am not sure why SpotUp didn't have this problem - maybe OS4 has changed since he posted.

But Delitracker always was a powerful but weird program, at least to configure. If you double click on the Paula noteplayer entry then it gets a "D" next to it, and clicking again changes it to an "F", neither of which seem to make any difference to how Delitracker works. I never did figure out what these letters mean - does anybody know?

@Hitman (Arnie too)

I used to think DeliTracker really strange, many years ago, because of this. But the thing to do is to enable "Low Chipmem" in the settings. Then you can happily ignore the Paula-Noteplayer and it should use AHI-Noteplayer even for the 4-channel files.

'D' = Disabled
'F' = Forced

I loved Delitracker!!! Gods I hope to able to really use it again on OS4! That Dr. Who tunnel plugin was most excellent. I will bookmark your advice for the hopeful future.

Yes, but as I said above "neither of which seem to make any difference." ie. If I double click the Paula noteplayer so that it has a 'D' next to it and then try to play a module, Delitracker still tries to use it and my Amiga still hangs! Only by *removing* the noteplayer does my Amiga actually work.

Thanks for the tip. However I tried this and rather than crashing, it just gives an error of "Initialisation error" or something similar when I try to load a module.

Anyway, not to worry, it's working now, even if I have to remove the Paula noteplayer.
