software Classic   A-EON Technology Acquires Personal Paint
software Classic posted by amigakit on 27-Nov-2014 15:33:19 (32861 reads)
A-EON Technology is pleased to announce that it has taken over the development of Personal Paint from Cloanto. The two companies had already started to cooperate in 2014 which resulted in the release of Personal Paint 7.2 and 7.3. These are the first new versions for several years, with the latest native versions available now on AMIStore for both AmigaOS 4.1 and AmigaOS 3.x.

As part of the agreement A-EON will exclusively develop and own all future AmigaOS versions of Personal Paint (including possible MorphOS and AROS ports). Additionally, A-EON and Cloanto will share joint ownership of Classic Amiga versions up to version 7.2, while Cloanto may continue to work on future non-Amiga versions.

Matthew Leaman, A-EON Managing Director, said, "A-EON Technology is proud to conclude this agreement with Cloanto. Personal Paint always had a strong following with Classic Amiga users and we are excited to drive it's future." Trevor Dickinson, A-EON’s co-founder added, "I've been an avid user of Personal Paint for many years. It became the leading easy-to-use Amiga program for bitmapped graphics and animation and was one of the first to support AGA and RTG graphics. These advanced features allowed Personal Paint to replace Deluxe Paint in Commodore's Amiga computer software bundles."

Personal Paint was the first commercial Amiga graphics program to break the 2Mb chip RAM barrier and to support PowerPC CPUs. However, it also included numerous other unique features which made it a favourite with many Classic Amiga owners. These included: professional colour reduction and merge, multiple brushes, filters, animation, file format plugins and stereograms together with PostScript and 24-bit printing. The constant reinvention of the possible applications of animated GIFs (also thanks to the expiration of related patents) helped drive continued demand for Personal Paint's exceptional support for palette based modes and optimised GIF code.

Cloanto's Michael C. Battilana commented on the transfer, "I am delighted to see future Amiga Personal Paint development efforts in the hands of an extremely motivated and talented team. I would also like to pay special thanks to Trevor. Without his generous commitment, the Amiga community wouldn't be as alive and kicking as it still is today."

software Classic   Mediator Multimedia CD UP 2.3
software Classic posted by DJS on 25-Nov-2014 1:12:51 (2469 reads)
The MM CD 2.3 update for registered users of all Mediator models has been released today.

The Mediator Multimedia CD UP 2.3 includes a new versions of:

• pci.library (ver. 9.10)
• Radeon.card (ver. 2.20)
• Voodoo.card (ver. 4.34)
• MedConfig (ver. 2.0)

The pci.library ver. 9.10 includes new procedures for allocation of the DMA buffers for PCI cards working in the busmaster mode. New software improves timings of the PCI busmaster cards (Spider, SB4.1, SB128, FM801, TV tuner, FastEthernet) during their acesses to the DMA buffers located in the SDRAM/SGRAM memory of the PCI gfx card. New software should solve issues of same SB128 cards in the Radeon based configurations.

In the new version of the MedConfig script the support for RadeonMemOS, VoodooMemOS and SpiderBuf variables has been added. New RadeonMemOS and VoodooMemOS variables allow to control the function which adds a part of gfx card SDRAM/SGRAM memory to the Amiga system memory.

Information on the current versions is available in the DOWNLOADS | Mediator section. The current list of supported PCI cards is available in the Mediator Driver Guide. Information about Mediator-related sources you will find in the COMMUNITY section.

Amigaworld.net News posted by Lazi on 20-Nov-2014 23:35:45 (3102 reads)
SQLite Manager updated to V0.2

Download from here!

It is still alpha, so feature requests, bug reports are welcome!

This application based on the SQLite database engine and lets you create, view and modify databases. The database handling can happen via the GUI or there is an SQL command shell to serve any needs. There is a preliminary support for open xml spreadsheet files which can be converted to databases and even to native Amiga spreadsheets.

Main new feature is the ability to create queries by the SQL Select command or by interactively select corresponding items. The queries can transfer to new separate windows in any quantity.

Events   Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, Nov. 23
Events posted by RobertB on 20-Nov-2014 7:26:27 (1646 reads)
Happy Thanksgiving, C= and Ami aficionados! The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, Nov. 23 at --

Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant
2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan)
Fresno, California

This month we have a veritable cornucopia of Commodore! In celebration of its 10th anniversary, we'll be playing the C64 DTV 30-games-in-one joystick, PAL and/or NTSC versions. On the C128 front, we'll try out the CP/M Kit (which includes Chess). For the VIC-20, we'll have the new 2014 games, Panicman, Pulse, Get the Cat, and Bounce. For the Plus/4, we'll examine the Plus/4 Diagnostic Cartridge from Rob C. of Switzerland. For the Amiga 500 (with 8 meg. SupraRAM and SupraTurbo 28 accelerator), we'll look at Silent Service II.

All that plus the promo video, the 8 Bit Generation with Jack Tramiel!

Too much hardware to bring!

hardware Classic   Ray Carlsen's new Amiga power supplies
hardware Classic posted by RobertB on 19-Nov-2014 6:09:31 (2720 reads)
In addition to his power supplies for C64s, C128s, Plus/4s, and VIC-20CRs (see topic http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=39016&forum=17#742404 ), Ray Carlsen is now producing power supplies for the Amiga 500, Amiga 600, and Amiga 1200 (and will power the CMD hard drive for the above-named Commodores, too). His basic model is $80, not including shipping. See

http://personalpages.tds.net/~rcarlsen/cbm/universal_ps/Amiga%20PS.jpg

He has even built a p.s. that will power an Amiga and a sidecar addition, like an A590 hard drive. See

http://personalpages.tds.net/~rcarlsen/cbm/universal_ps/AMIGA%20CUSTOM%20PS.jpg

Since these p.s.'s are made one at a time, ask Ray at rcarlsen(at)tds.net for their availability.

A more official announcement,
Robert Bernardo
