Sam460ex_setup released |
| software OS4 posted by m3x on 13-Jun-2012 13:48:53 (4240 reads) |
A little utility to optimize performance on your Sam460ex board.
What it does:
* enables Store Gathering in CCR0 register. This new setting doubles write speed to a PCI Express graphic card (up to 320 MB/s on a Radeon X1950 and up to 300 MB/s on a Radeon HD 4650 PCI-E card) and increase 50% write speed to a PCI card. Ragemem and Gfxbench2D will show higher values for CPU (not DMA) initiated data transfers.

The NetBSD operating system now includes a driver for ELBOX Mediator PCI 1200 bridges. It is still a work in progress, but already various PCI cards are supported (for example NE2000-compatible networks cards and SATALink 3112 controllers). The driver was developed using information obtained through reverse engineering.

I'm pleased to announce the release of a rejuvenated version of AnimIcon. Something that's been on my todo list for a while now.
AnimIcon was one of my earliest 'proper programs' (although early versions didn't get released to the public) so it had a certain affection for me. But it looked ugly on my modern AmigaOS workbench so it fell into disuse. Apparenty the 68k version is soon to be included in an 68k AROS distribution so this inspired me to dust off the code, and update it for AmigaOS 4.
