Events   No AmiWest 2010 for AmiZed
Events posted by ssolie on 14-Sep-2010 17:47:35 (2398 reads)
Hello everyone, just wanted to first thank ssolie for pimping the AmiWest 2010 donations on my website. I was kind of dumb founded when I checked my email to see donations all of a sudden after months of nothing. But I wanted to thank the folks that did donate today. I appreciate it. But...

It appears that because of events that transpired earlier today (Monday), that I won't be able to make the trip. So the question is now, should I roll it over or refund it. If you're one of the folks that donated, be on the lookout for an email from me, asking what you would like to do. In the mean time, I'm going to take the page offline till I know. But rest assured, I am going to put up an AmiWest 2011 page. And this time, pimp it a little better. LOL

Announcement   Amiga User International Celebrates 100
Announcement posted by auimag on 8-Sep-2010 11:09:19 (2502 reads)
London - September 8th 2010: Amiga User International, fondly known as AUI, today celebrated 100 subscribers to its Facebook page.

AUI was, in 1986, the UK's first news-stand magazine dedicated to to productivity of the Amiga computer worldwide. The print publication closed in 1997 as the Amiga market shrank, but has maintained a web presence - at www.aui-magazine.net - ever since. With the rise in social networking, the team behind the web page decided to venture into this area and relaunched the site and the new Facebook page at this year's Vintage Computer Festival held at Bletchley Park.

Facebook users can search for 'Amiga User International (AUI)' or sign up via the www.aui-magazine.net home page.

Software News   SimpleSub v1.0 released on OS4Depot - edit/encode subtitles
Software News posted by ktadd on 7-Sep-2010 0:52:45 (3710 reads)
SimpleSub is a program for creating and editing .srt format subtitle files. It also supports encoding the subtitles onto the video using mencoder. It has a 'Preview' mode that allows full control of MPlayer with it's on screen display showing the current time for determining display time for subtitles.

The editor supports full keyboard control and auto time formatting for ease of entry. SimpleSub also supports "Title Settings" such as font selection, position, size, blur and outline. It comes with several freeware fonts to get you started. "Video Settings" allows you to choose the output formant, video/audio bitrates and codecs for encoding. In addition it supports a "Test Mode" that limits encoding to the first 20 seconds so the titles settings can be viewed and adjusted before comitting to fully encoding the whole video.

He states it's no longer a beta version as indicated below.
