Yes, but keep in mind his UI code is going to be proprietary, so it doesn't help OS4 much. _________________ ...wait... what? |

Theres talks about a classic version of OS4? |
Back in early 2002, Ben Hermans confirmed in an interview that OS4 will be released for "existing PPC-solutions" (Classic Amiga with P5-PPC-cards). At that time, it was rumoured that OS4 will first be released for Classic PPC with an estimated release date of February 2002 (we all know that this changed: from November 2002 until today OS4 is apparently "in it's final stages", but not released yet).
At the current time there are only BPPC/CSPPC-versions for betatesters and according to a statement made by Rogue some months ago, this versions runs on "lower priority" and might be only released *after* a version for upcoming "new hardware" becomes available.Last edited by hatschi on 26-Oct-2006 at 02:50 PM.

So mid 2007 would seem most likely._________________ Sam |

The only competition OS4 has atm is MorphOS (and maybe AROS) and of course MOS beats it hands down. |
With respect to software availability? I would have thought that OS4 had more software for it thus far, and that would be before one even factors in the compatible 68k classic stuff. At least, that has been my impression so far, but then again, I'm not an MOS owner or user, so I'm definately not an authority on this.
What are others' take on this? Does MOS have more software available for it than OS4?

If the OS4 Team gave him an OS4 compatible machine, a Sputnik port may be possible. I think that it's a *basic* application and a proper browser (read: something that supports CSS and Javascript decently) is required for OS4 success..._________________ The only spanish amiga news web page/club: CUAZ |

Do you really assume that anybody would have to decide between Vista and OS4.0 at that time? Sorry, that's just hilarious. |
I agree. Only a completely insane lunatic would chose Vista over OS4!

Have you really heard porting is in the works for Samantha? |
It seems I was in error about Samantha, I asked others & none can recall reading what I thought I read. Samantha wasn't even shown at Amiwest. |
Samantha wasnt at Amiwest, but it was at the French show this weekend, someone else will have to remember what the show was called. -Tig

Seriously, this is like me not wanting to open up a lemonade stand the day a Walmart opens up in my neighbourhood, because it may affect my sales. |
Speaking of lemonade stands, I remember hearing a story on the news a few months ago where a little kid was sent a nasty letter by his local municipal government somewhere in the US or Canada, telling him that he could not continue to sell lemonade on his front lawn/end of his driveway unless he paid for and got the proper license/permit! Amusing and sad a the same time. If the AInc. lawyers got involved, this may mean years of litigation and complex navigation through convoluted clauses in the license agreements, for a pimply faced 6 year old to sell lemonade at the end of his driveway! ...but wait, who owns the IP to lemonade? ..and what about the lemon farmers?!

Yep. I am already curious how many "OS4 for Xmas?" threads we'll see this year - last years there were *many*.

Then as time passes those threads will turn into, You promised us threads. After that, Why did you break your promise threads.

IMHO, it does not matter at all when Windows Vista is released. Even though I have three machines running Windows XP, I am much more interested in seeing the official release of AmigaOS 4.0 and new Amiga hardware.

Good point to think about! My question is, will Amiga actually advertise?

I agree with redfox, I couldn't give a fig newton when Vista is released, I certainly won't 'infect' my machine with the bloated virus MS are trying to foist upon us. XP is bad enough...
