I haven't pushed an updated binary yet. And yes, that link should always be good. Last edited by Karlos on 30-Jul-2023 at 12:35 PM.

I have a peerless system that runs Daz. It can fit and deep clean a huge load and spin it out almost dry...

Procter & Gamble's British Daz detergent products are very rare in Australia and New Zealand. _________________ Amiga 1200 (rev 1D1, KS 3.2, PiStorm32/RPi CM4/Emu68) Amiga 500 (rev 6A, ECS, KS 3.2, PiStorm/RPi 4B/Emu68) Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5-6000 64 GB RAM, GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB |

I just haven't had time, heavy work commitments and the kids are off school now too.
The first task will be for the in game messages. This is a low hanging fruit because it's fixed width 8*8 planar font. There's nothing difficult about it conceptually, it's just the lack of time.
@BigD
I meant "two more weeks" as in the forever undefined length of time. For all practical purposes, the hud fix is enough for the RTG version to be considered playable for those that don't want a sudden death experience.
I need to finish AGA support in the C enabled build too as there's no functional HUD there either. Last edited by Karlos on 01-Aug-2023 at 09:32 PM.

True! Thanks again! I look forward to testing it 2-player when the updates are pushed!_________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

I've just merged some changes into main that include the latest engine builds. These have the working HUD counters but only in RTG, so be aware. They also remove the debugging code that might interfere with serial port use and they include the additions from paraj that allow the game to be exited safely (press the asterisk on your numberpad to exit).
The RTG version still works best at 320*256 if you have a comparable mode defined. If you run at 320*240, expect to have to use the letterbox mode a little to expose the border again _________________ Doing stupid things for fun... |

| In other news, I have some functioning text rendering routines but the in game messaging system needs an overhaul. Some very early experimentation is here https://youtu.be/LsrmlZ-dzsA
What I have in mind is something more like a console display where we show a maximum of say 4 lines at the top of the display and scroll them up. _________________ Doing stupid things for fun... |

Great Work! i really like your mod, Alien Breed 3D 2 always feel not polished from the beginning but you invest time and make it feel more polished, more playable and just more final without destroying the real astectics of the game and level design. Thank you for doing such a great job. |

Only 8 bit modes work and only 320x240 or 320x256 are valid for now. There's an obscene amount of work needed to make it resolution selectable. _________________ Doing stupid things for fun... |

| Some progress with the text rendering. I've implemented some code to render text using thr existing 8x8 fixed font proportionally. Note that I've fixed a bug with it since that image and it looks better now.
I tried the existing proportional font used for the mission intro text but it's just too big. So I wrote a quick and dirty startup routine that determines the width and offset or each glyph and a rendering function that reuses it. Last edited by Karlos on 04-Aug-2023 at 09:34 PM. Funny, because your oversized picture has caused your text to run outside of the standard text box of your post! Are you sure you know what you're doing!
Edit: Fixed! I knew you were a master coder really! Edit2: Or it could just be my phone's browser! Edit3: No, Chrome on Android definitely doesn't like the size of your screengrab! So, what you are saying is, rather than work on stuff I should crop images properly for ancient forum software running on mobile devices from the future (relative to the forum software)? :D _________________ Doing stupid things for fun... |
