| Ok so Amiga, Inc. is a privately held firm.
But Prokom which owns a small part of Amiga appears to be public and trade on the London Stock Exchange and Warsaw Stock Exchange.
I was curious if anyone has ever considered buying shares in Prokom either for the heck of it or even to at least be able to legitimately ask some questions about the background of the purchase to Prokom Investor Relations. I'm assuming Prokom wanted in on Hakia and buying a piece of Amiga may have been a necessary part of the deal?
So I'm curious if anyone has done this already.

From my experience you should be able to ask such questions directly to the company (provided that Prokom has a reasonabe investor relations dep). If you write them as a potential investor they should have enough reason to answer, being a stock-traded company. No need to buy shares for that (but could be fun for the annual shareholders-meeting in Poland if you are -really- desperate). Anyway, be prepared for a fuzzy PR-style answer (but there are exceptions!)...

I hadn't thought about it, no. But I wasn't aware of it either. Now that I am, I have to say that I'm highly unlikely to buy Prokom stock just to gain the "right" to ask Amiga questions. I don't have enough cash to be confused with an "important" investor anyway, so I'm not sure how seriously anyone would take such questions. Would any answers even be worth the money? I'm content to remain an unknowledgable peasant without any bizarre-reasoned stock purchases. _________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad! |

Its more just being inquistive for fun for me. Especially with all the shell game talk that there has been on many forums. I see hakia as something people would potentially want to invest in. But Amiga, I don't personally see it (as much as I'd like to see it succeed). So I'm just curious if more could be gotten from Prokom on their motivation. I agree with hatschi, fuzzy PR is all that will likely to be gotten (if that even). But if nothing else it would be fun to share any answers that they give. Since they bought into hakia and Amiga at the same time it seems it being a condition of hakia investment somehow seems most likely what happened (to me anyway, at this point).
Hakia is quite the contrast though with it listing board members like Bill Bradley. Aw.net members from Europe may not know the name, but in the U.S. he is a very well known former Senator who even attempted a presendential bid at one time.
I find it a very interesting contrast. Plus learning how to buy foreign stock will be a fun little education as well, just a share or two. ;)

| fairlanefastback: The stock has taken a big hit the last few days. Almost -10% the last month, +16% the last quarter but only +2.85% the last 12 months.
Less than 3% in a year that has been extreme for almost every market isn't exactly a company I would invest in.. Hell, I get that interest in my bank! |

I own a small amount of stocks in several companies. You would be suprised how helpful they are when they find out you are an investor, although I doubt this would apply in this situation. |

From a post of yours #57 here. Quote:
Actually Pentti Kouri does not own Prokom. Its a public company, traded on the London Stock Exchange, located in Poland, and is required to file annual reports. BUT the president of Prokom, Ryszard Krauze, is on the Hakia Board of Directors. And Hakia is a Pentti Kouri company and Prokom invested in it around the same time it did with Amiga. So while there is a connection in this sense Prokom's duty as a publicly traded company would be to actually transfer money, for real.
So that being said, that Kouri does not own Prokom, it becomes even more intriuging. |

You know I honestly thought that every avenue possible had been explored to bring even more lawyers into the mess that is the Amiga scene of the 21st century. I was wrong.
That beeping noise you may hear is the semi-trailer delivering my latest order of popcorn. There's sweet F-A happening these days that doesn't involve lawyers, so I may as well grab a chair, grab a tub and watch the show.

I think it's more than just ProKom buying stock. From their 2005 annual report: http://www.prokom.pl/wspolne/inwestorzy/roczne_prokom/pdf/report05eng.pdf
Enter "amiga" and/or "hakia" in .pdf search and you'll read things like:
Quote:
"Prokom Software SA intends to co-operate with Amiga for instance in the distribution of its system among Polish software and mobile equipment vendors." |

I can cast some light on that. It has nothing to do with Prokom performance. It's caused by one of our scandals in politics. Now enjailed former minister Kaczmarek meet with Mr. Ryszard Krauze, owner of Prokom, PiS wants to connect Krauze with a leak from Secret Police and becasue of that, stock price of Prokom falled.

Will this news of a Hakia board of directors member overshadow the release of Hakia Scoopbar? ( http://company.hakia.com/scoopbar/scoopbarinfo.html ) LOL. :) _________________ Pegasos2 G3 running AOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2.0 Amikit user, tinkering with Icaros VM (AROS) EFIKA owner Amiga 1200 |

12th February 2008
Quote:
Prosecutors to investigate Prokom's transactions
The prosecutor's office has got the go-ahead to examine Prokom transactions, Ryszard Krauze's IT giant, in the investigation of the 4Media bourse affair, announced the court on Monday. This means investigators can now analyse the transactions and banks must disclose detailed information on company operations.
Prokom was surprised at the court's decision. "The proceedings may be connected with normal analyses of transactions, but can not be directed against Prokom," said a company spokesman. He added, someone mixed up different threads and drew false implications. The move comes despite the fact that the company received victim status from the prosecution on January 15. This means that Prokom has many rights, including participation in hearings. |
