| Just a quick, but important note to avoid confusion: Italy's timezone is GMT+1, not +2. It would be +2 counting in the DST (Daytime Saving Time), but only for those countries which don't observe it (just a few in Europe and North America).
Also, it should be added that the "Integrated development with AVD" speech will be held by Dario Soccoli AND Eliseo Bianchi.

| If unsure about the date or time. Look at this page:
http://timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=341
Looking forward to seeing you all there.
Edit:
When daylight savings time is in effect UK is GMT+1, Italy (CE(S)T) is GMT+2
Firenze: Standard time zone: UTC/GMT +1 hour Daylight saving time: +1 hour Current time zone offset: UTC/GMT +2 hours Time zone abbreviation: CEST - Central European Summer Time
So if it's 12pm in UK now, it's 13pm in Italy. Last edited by nicomen on 20-Sep-2006 at 11:54 PM.

| Hmm, maybe we could do an developer-question-list, so that the questions do not derail to the recent events.
That way it would be atleast a constructive irc-session.
Just an idea. _________________ A1G3-SE + OS4.1 u1 iso (x2)

I didn't understand that. GMT+2 is GMT+2 whether DST is in effect or not. The reference point - GMT - doesn't change. When Italy is in DST, its timezone is GMT+2 no matter what your local timezone may be.

| @all
Italy = CET (GMT+1). So, right now there's a 6 hours difference between NYC and Firenze. Samantha: not directly related to this event. Here they're talking about the Dev Conference. According to the website, Sam will be presented at 11am local time (but I confess that I have a bit of confusion about the time schedule). _________________ La fortuna è cieca. | @evilrich it does... just like Italy is Denmark also using GMT+1 (GMT+2) - GMT stays "constant" nomatter if it is DST or not.
from the "official" source: Quote:
Standard Time = GMT+1 Summer Time = GMT+2 |

Reference in the title was made to an earlier announcement here: http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=3294
Quote:
Talking about the conferences planned for Saturday 23rd September, we will start at 11.00 AM with the official presentation of project "Samantha" |
ok. "Samantha" at 11:00am.
Quote:
then, at 2.00 PM the first Amiga Developer's Conference will start. |
ok. You said "one hour earlier than previously announced. ok. Developer's conference at 1:00pm.
For those on the East coast of the U.S. (EST) this means the "Samantha" presentation is 5:00am, the conference is 7:00am, and the Hyperion irc session is 11:30am.
I still believe it would be worth reprinting this schedule in the "news" realease, since some people will not read the posts underneath. Also, if starting at 1:00pm instead of 12:00pm pushes anything "back", we would have another misunderstanding about the irc session time.

NYC is in EDT right now, which is GMT-4. So, if Italy is in GMT+1, then the difference is 5 hours.

| Sorry for the confusion. I thought that the GMT+1 notation remained the same also under DST, since the time difference remains the same (1 hour) as both Italy and Great Britain observe the DST. Timezones are sometimes such a mess. Last edited by Varthall on 21-Sep-2006 at 03:54 PM.

It's simple really. Fix the schedule (including the correct time for the Hyperion chat). Contact a moderator if necessary to either make a "new" news piece and/or delete this one which is becoming quite convoluted at this point.
I'll post with the key events expressed in terms of time as those in the U.S. can relate to more easily.

During the duration of the Pianeta AMIGA 2006 in Empoli, Italy, Cubic IDE can be purchased at a reduced "show price" on the Cubic IDE web site. |

I recon it could be less confusion if we didn't mention GMT at all. Like Italy is always CET. _________________ Site admins are people too..pooff!
