i assume the license of personal paint has been changed, but is it legal and appropriate to apply the newly changed license _post factum_ to a past version that has been long ago released under another license and demand removing it from hosting elsewhere? will the users now be demanded to erase their software downloaded from aminet? anyway, strange practice to fill an online store that demands an account and is available only on limited platforms (for instance not accessible for _unexpanded_ amiga ) while purging publicly accessible repositories of traditional software that has there been for years. doesnt actually convince me to support these efforts. but whatever.

Thanks guys- we are very pleased about the native AmigaOS 4 version that Andy has been contracted to develop for A-EON. Apart from new features, it is the first public release of PPaint natively working under AmigaOS 4 which makes it both a fast and stable release.

Also the new features added from this OS 4 version have been also included in the new AmigaOS 3 version of PPaint. This is part of A-EON's ongoing commitment to providing new software for the Amiga.

Trevor Dickinson from A-EON states that they "plan to offer free downloads of historical Classic versions in the future".

A-EON intends to make free versions available in future from it's own servers.

Before you spout your ridiculous uterances, you should read the 'license' that PPaint was released under. It was no kind of freeware and if the owners of it want to take it down they have every right to.

Let's not go there, please. Copyright holders are of course entitled to have their software removed from Aminet, that's simply Aminet's policy and has nothing to do with any laws.

Doesn't mean we have to like it, or that it's a smart move.

Ok, sligthly less pissed, but still. Would be much better in Aminet, where people would find it better and have used to find it there. Better upload txt info about it there at least so that people searching will see it.

As a Classic user I am really happy with the new Classic enhancements and features of PPaint that A-EON have commissioned- first development of this software in many, many years - is that not a good thing for Classic Amigas ?

Additionally, the first native AmigaOS 4.x version which is also good news!

Both platforms driving development of software for each other.

I am surprised that Amiga-News have gone with such a headline and not celebrated the fact that a brand new Classic Amiga version is available - surely that is the main headline for us Classic Amiga fans that use our Amiga systems daily and welcome new software developments.

Nice, but I think it would be better if ArtEffect and PageStream development are taken by somebody... Those two are the closest to Adobe software...

Good to see progress and development.

I cant really see why Amiga users expects everything to be freely available for an unlimited period of time.
Maybe why no developers stick around?

zzd10h recived a similar reaction to his program pack, so not really suprised.
