If it comes with a configuration that imitates the SAS-C se Editor, I would probably buy a copy. |
No SAS/C-se emulation, sorry. It comes with a configuration to imitate the popular CygnusED (its keyboard configuration). The SAS/C editor is too unknown and too unused for my taste to invest any time in an emulation. However, I'll soon put up a sponsor-a-feature web page: users who want a feature which I'm not prepared to do in my own time can sponsor the development to get it done. |

Ok, I was ready to upgrade until I read this:

PayPal payments are accepted only from non-EU customers. |
Why? |
I was wondering this myself as I paid for GoldED AIX using PayPal.
Payment by PayPal would certainly be easier for me, especially since I don't know how to pay by bank wire transfer.
Kind regards,

Fixed-width fonts are best for coding, so I think proportional font support is not important for an editor. I have to agree with tactica that anti-aliased fonts are much easier on the eye, especially on TFT monitors (at least with the font engine in OS4), it's not about looking 'cool' rather than making readability easier. So why not make it an option? Then people who don't want it or have problems with it, won't enable it. Last edited by COBRA on 22-Oct-2005 at 12:41 PM.

Whenever a feature request is declined, I should bet ten bucks that the next argument is, with absolute certainty, "why not make it an option" :) Work is why. Sorry, I don't like this idea and don't want to spend any time on it. Can we close this matter now? Alternatively, consider #21. |

| Hi Dietmar,
I have just purchased the upgrade from Golded StudioAIX to CubicIDE. Thanks for all your work on this project.
By the way, I have noticed something odd on your website: while waiting for the upgrade CD to arrive, I decided to download microGoldEd to play with, and there are two different versions of this file on your website. If I download it from the downloads link on the cubic page, I get a filesize of 344486 and date Oct 21, but if I login first and download from the link under "Free downloads and puchased items" I get a filesize of 341469 and date Oct 20. I have selected the same options both times, and both files have the same filename, but in different directories on your website. Is it supposed to be this way? |

The version you have downloaded from your account is a registered version (free of advertsing). The other version from the public files page contains small banners. Regarding their functions, both are identical.
- edit: oops, there was indeed a problem with the microgolded files, some archives were not updated yesterday (old version on site). If you don't see 8.0 in the about window, please download again. Terribly sorry for the inconvenience.Last edited by dietmar on 22-Oct-2005 at 06:18 PM.

There is a thread about using pipes to control gdb on utilitybase. From how it sounds, something is broken. |
That is correct. The current available gdb combined with an older version of clib2 has a problem that practicallt prevents you from doing anything usable att all.
However, my current version of gdb has this problem fixed. Oh, did I mention that I also have written a pretty cool frontend for it too?
More details regarding this will be available shortly.

| dietmar:so if i buy this new IDE of yours it will be the only application or whatever i use that havent got antialiased fonts... thats not good :I
i hope you could make it an option, other than that it does sound neat.
and really, i have a big issue with using 3.9 or windows or whatever theese days because im am so used to AA! , sounds like you need to sit a week with and without to really see the difference (and feel it) . _________________ See my blog and collection website! . https://www.blog.amigaguru.com

| I use a "Courier New" ttf font with GoldED, and I can assure you, I can't tell the difference to AA fonts. But I use a 17" tube with 1152x864 (or something). Last edited by Jorge on 22-Oct-2005 at 11:49 PM.

That's an interesting equation. IDE on one side, antialiased font on the other side. What's it going to be: the EditPad IDE because it has the lovely fonts or the Cubic IDE because it has those whatever features? Priorities, Priorities ;) |

hehe, its annoying when people are constantly requesting features you're not keen on eh? theres a handful of requests I get on wookiechat often. :)
btw, I love microgolded, and the version with tabs you released earlier this year is even better. best 5 euro I ever spent. :) syntax highlighting used to be too distracting for my liking, but its starting to grow on me, I might register cubic ide in a few months once several people have paid back money they owe me.
I love it that you're still developing for Amigas.. the platform needs guys like you. |

| I'm trying out the demo now.. very very nice! nice little touches here and there.. curly brackets have unique colours for each level! very useful! but the killer feature for me was after loading a file, it automatically generates a list of other #?.c #?.cpp and #?.h files in the same directory, and displays this list on the right hand side. you can easily load these other files with a single click. very useful for me because I tend to split up my projects into lots of small files. |
