| I liked Rigo's answers and some them actually made me laugh a little. I don't see what all the fuss is about. |

I agree that 97% is almost the same as "everyone". AOS4 developers should care more about their customers. Amigaland used to be a friendly place. No, they should have a marketing departement for that. Developers should stick to what they know and do best, write code, not PR or writing in forums. _________________ Site admins are people too..pooff!

| Q: In a 1997 issue of the magazine CU Amiga, we have discovered "Suzanne", your highly customized Amiga 600. Could you tell us the story behind this computer project ?
A:The answers to these questions are still the same as they are in that text, it seems pointless to repeat it all again here.
That ought to be one of the most pointless answers, ever... Last edited by pixie on 24-Feb-2010 at 02:54 PM.

Great, then there will be no one to buy anything you guys produce..... Very nice of you.
Why don't you quit doing anything Amiga related ? That would make your life alot better as far I understand. I wouldn't bother anymore if I felt that way about things I was doing.
Realy, you said that the 'community' needed to grow up ? Set the example then ! What kind of rubbish interview was that anyway. Answering like 'What a #### question, I dont want to answer that, dont waste my time !'
I thought quite high of you, but not so much anymore. Not that you care......

I sure hope not. Codebench is one of the best IDE's (possibly the best) for any amiga platform, and it is evolving very nicely. I give Simon great respect for that.
Edited to add: But I agree for sure that a more positively given interview would probably have given a better vibe for the crowd.Last edited by flowi on 24-Feb-2010 at 05:11 PM.

| I also thought Simon's answers seemed surly and cross, but I didn't dare say anything. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Some other interviews were the same way, specifically a certain guy writing a web browser who got $20,000 from us. Maybe Americans don't understand the European way of talking. I got three things from Simon: he seems to be a programmer working on a large project (like lots of other people), he's a beta-tester, and he's ticked at "the community". As far as "the community", the reaction has been mostly positive except for a couple of people who definitely don't speak for us. If A-Eon wants a sincere show of appreciation, they will deliver a product that people can spend their money on. That's the way customers show appreciation to a company. I'm putting away some money now, and if it turns out to be a good product that offers more than my micro, I will buy it. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++

| ####ing of the 'community' isn't a smart thing to do, is it ?
97 percent ? Come on !!! It might be closer the other way around. And catching fire ?? -insert bad swear word here- My sister in law had a very bad burning accident last week. Maybe thats it ? I don't know...
I think he might have had an 'off' day though....
This realy piissed me off ! Even as it wasn't personal for me.
sigh....

| So being a complete douchebag to all but say 200 or so of the end-users is a good idea in a microscopic market like this why again?
Makes me all the happier that the FPGA Arcade boards w/AGA support are coming out, I tell you what. _________________ The problem with AmigaOS on PPC isn't that PPC is big-endian. The problem with AmigaOS on PPC is that PPC is dead-endian.

Not likely... you'd need a sack full of King Edwards to make a chip the size of the one he has had on his shoulders! He had the same attitude on the OS4 betatest mailing list, I wasn't the only one to notice it, and it's now obviously spilling out into forums and interviews.
Anyway, we're giving far too much publicity and precious time to someone who has openly stated he'd care less to see 97% of this community go up in a ball of flames?

You have every right to your opinion and I can appreciate honesty but lets face it this is only going to inflame (no pun intended) people more. My wife occasionally works with burn victims and used to do so full time. Its not pretty. If you can't stand to be more tactful please take a breather and don't respond for a while instead PLEASE. Yes the community is a bloody mess lacking manners in general beyond belief. It sucks big time. I'm amazed you guys manage to bother still and I thank you for it. A lot of people do also. It can't be easy. But this just makes it worse. _________________ Pegasos2 G3 running AOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2.0 Amikit user, tinkering with Icaros VM (AROS) EFIKA owner Amiga 1200

| Like I said in another thread to OPI, It's easy here to become the devil you are normally fighting.
I can imagine reading 30 pages threads about "X1000 is vapourware" and the like instead of some appreciation and much needed positivity makes one sour.
I have never been in a scene with so much open negativity written in public forums, and it's really sometimes hard for me to justify spending time here and going on coding for Amiga, because I feel there is too much "bad Voodoo/Karma" being spilt here.
When I imagine being in Simons place, doing all this stuff for Amiga OS, and reading threads here day after day, where people openly attack your (probably much underpaid) work, I can easily understand why he is kind of riled up.
So, cut him some slack.
(plus: i can count the amount of reasonable, funny and cool people(you know who you are ;) ) here on my two hands fingers, so, 97% may be a little overboard, but not completely out of bounds, if you count all of the Amigarelated boards. ) Last edited by steril606 on 24-Feb-2010 at 07:53 PM. | He can be ####ed off, but what he said, bothers me deeply. And if he hates the Amiga 'community' so much, go and find greener pastures. Or let the MINORITY of moaners be, and focus on something more possitive.
And if you don't want to give an interview, DONT ! Jeez, I'm still ####ed.
Oh, btw, Rigo.. I reported you ! You can't just say things like you did. _________________ Theres a time to live and a time to die When its time to meet the maker Theres a time to live but isnt it strange That as soon as you're born you're dying

I can't disagree with you. But anyone upset by what he said can show the biggest reaction if they wish by simply withholding support as users.
The endless discord only helps to continually devolve the community, at some point there will be nothing left if we don't each take steps to stop the cycle.
If Rigo thinks 97 percent of folks can #### off he is probably better served by happily serving the 3 percent he is ok with.
And users are probably better off taking what he said in, pondering it, and then deciding how they will vote with their wallet. _________________ Pegasos2 G3 running AOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2.0 Amikit user, tinkering with Icaros VM (AROS) EFIKA owner Amiga 1200
