Nice, yet another person tarred and feathered by the amiga community, I am so surprised, not..

Mostly because you think he represents Hyperion. Here's the funny part, you guys think Hyperion should step in & do damage control when you posters are doing all the damage to our hobby, you know who you are.

Hyperion, & now A-eon, are our last hope, but you guys continue to try & kill them off, just stupid.

I thoght the TOS was aganst flaming ppl, but I guess not.

I'm pi#sed, can you tell?

No, it's indeed not a surprise that someone who wished that 97% of the people here would catch fire is being tarred and feather by the same group of people:

Now you have to question yourself who was trying to kill/burn someone in the first place?

Absolutely, but what I see in this thread are only reactions to an outrageous statement made by Rigo. If a post would have needed to be removed, then it would be his one. But you seem to judge with double standards.

And who started flaming this time?? Take a look at the first page of comments and you will see it was pretty much Rigo who started this thing by bashing nearly ALL of the amiga community.

Maybe because he did a interview as a OS4 developer?? If he did not mean what he said then he could just simply clear that up by posting again. I take the silence as if he actually meant all that ####.

The man said he could care less if 97 percent of the Amiga community caught on fire. That was HIS choice to say that AFTER an interview where MANY people have been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt about having a bad day the day the interview happened. Instead he basically confirmed the vibe many people got as how he generally thinks of the community. Thats going to make people upset. And maybe if you had bothered to notice you would have seen that a few of the people bothered are Hyperion/Acube customers, the VERY people Rigo should not be ####ing off needlessly.

Just because he is part of a small group of people who are the last hope for the Amiga community does not mean everyone is going to take behavior like that.

@Hans
Just checked the reaction at amigans.net to this interview and saw your comment.
I am not going to register there just to respond, so will respond here..

Obviously I can't say that with 100% certainty, but those who have complained did so on a different forum, and I haven't seen them post here (under the same nickname). They also seem to be people who had little genuine interest in OS 4 to begin with. Read into that whatever you wish. Hans

Do you really actually believe that?? How come there are loads of Sam/amigaone with 4.1 that also found his comments offensive? I am one of them as well. I bought the Sam ages ago and also love 4.1 and use it pretty much daily. I have never really had anything against hyperion or rigo at all but that intereview and comment here just bothers me alot.

Also.. Would i even be allowed to post my opinion on the matter on amigans?? I recall there was pretty heavy moderation going on there a few years back, but no idea if things have changed these days.

Do people really think Rigo meant that he wished people caught fire for real???
Even I, who isn't a native english speaker, understood this comment to be a.. What do you call it, a "saying".. Not a nice thing to say about your customers.. But how people could misinterpret it I can't understand.

Rigo has a hot temper & I don't condone what he posted or like it, but I can understand where it came from. My complaint is that the flaming goes on way to long. I can see ppl posting their dissatisfaction once, but not the same ppl day after day. AW has become cannibalistic, we're now feeding on ourselves, much like Ann Lu was before it closed. If you or others think threads like this are good for AW or your hobby, we're in big trouble.

Do you really actually believe that??

Once upon a time, Eyetech produced the A1 & hyperion brought out OS4.0 update 1. A train wreck for sure, but it was exciting & fun. AW was alive with threads, problems galore, & it brought the amiga community together, helping each other. Those days are gone, now we just bicker about everything. I bought one of the last micros & was lucky to get it. Rigo & all the other developers have given us their coding talent without receiving a penny in return, he has his opinions & he's seen the community degrade, over time, like many of us. He should never have posted what he did, but I do understand his frustration with us.

We have a couple of sayings here in the States,

"go to Hell or "burn in hell", nether are mean't literally. I took his post to meaning this, not nice, but not worth starting a flame war over.

@Sundown
As this is an international site, local sayings should be used very carefully.
Something that is a joke in USA is not accepted in Europe and vice versa.

@Everyone

As Zerohero wrote earlier, the days when opinions were moderated are long gone, the only opinions we moderate are those who conflict with French and EU-laws.

It might look like "slack moderation", but when the alternative is "censorship", which do you prefer?

/personal opinion hat on

Lets get one thing out of the way though. Where it came from was not 97 percent of the community. Rigo put the wrong folks in his cross-hairs IMHO. Where I come from we call that taking your frustrations out on the wrong people. I don't doubt he has every reason to be super ####ed at quite a few folks. I suspect most of the community would agree its really tough to be an OS4 developer because a number of folks are truly really nasty in how they approach these genuine efforts from people to make something good for the Amiga community. But those number of folks are not 97 percent of the community, no where near. I can appreciate they *feel* like they are a bigger number of folks than they are at times, but saying almost all in the community are a problem?

One of the most vocal in this thread about his upset is a current Hyperion and Acube customer. We've all see him post for years and I think most of us see him as a good guy. Rigo should (IMHO) take a hard look at how it was he upset such a person, of all people to upset. Swallow some pride and say something like "look I realy did not mean 97 percent, but I still am really ####ed at quite a few folks out there". While I can't speak for the upset person I'd bet good money he'd accept the apology and move on.
