| Neat! Curiosity question, will board specs be available to people who want to play with other FPGA cores than your own Natami IP that comes with it? Or is the board a closed and Natami-specific thing? _________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad!

The NatAmi is not un-brickable thus to make a custom core for the FPGA, you need to join the NatAmi team. |

| @djrikki,
It is my understanding that the Natami team plans to sell their work as complete systems only, not just a motherboard, so that should answer your question about it including a case.
Unless their plans have changed recently. _________________ Amiga! The computer that inspired so many, to accomplish so much, but has ended up in the hands of . . . . . . . . . .

| Nice! Would it be possible to put this SuperAGA on a PCI card and use it in an AmigaONE, Sam and so on? For perfect and fast emulation, SCALA and all those other nice things? _________________ Kind regards, Morten

I'll expect a neat PCI PPC board (with i.e. an AMCC processor - just like the phase5 PPC boards) and the ability to install AmigaOS4.1 Classic on it. _________________ X1000|II/G4|440ep|2000/060|2000/040|1000

| Congratulations! I never expected the Natami team to get this far. Amazing work. And the board looks very professional too. | @mskov AGA screens modes are already supported under AmigaOS4 using fake screens.
Yes it’s possible; you can do a lot of things whit MMU mapped memory and trap handlers for memory exceptions, there might be some overhead trying to bind things to getter like that, might not be as beneficial as expected.
The biggest problem is hardware timingers (CIAA/CIAB) and hardware audio (PAULA), not graphics. Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 14-Feb-2011 at 01:52 PM.

The Natami board is not well suited as a general FPGA development board, since everything is custom built to expect the Amiga chipset only. This means that just reconfiguring some I/O ports may be enough to break stuff. This is why we only offer our own FPGA core, and recommend people interested in general FPGA development to get adevboard meant to be a devboard and nothing else.

Although we like to offer complete systems in cases, I am sure that some people are going to want to save some money and get the board only for mounting in a case of their liking. We have not decided on a case yet. For now, we are focusing on board/software development.

In theory, it could be possible. This is not anything we are pursuing at the moment though. We want the Natami to revive and vitalise the classic Amiga, not be some sort of novelty addon to the NG systems.

Sounds like a fun project. Will you develop this PPC board? Who will port OS4.1 classic to it? Please contact us if you have anything ready and would like us to test it. |

No, I might know people who can do this. I suppose they will start with it shortly after the Natami sells good enough and there's enough demand for it - same might be true for Hyperion for a port of AmigaOS4.1 Classic...
I assume myself as the first customer of such a combination (count: 1). _________________ X1000|II/G4|440ep|2000/060|2000/040|1000

| cha05e90 In theory is the natami not just a super 1200/a4000 upgraded to the max without the bottlenicks so the system thinks its an 1200 with 060. iff an powerpc acc is added should it not act like a phease5 card.and warpos and an normal os 4.1 for classics.
i dont think pepole wanna buy it to put in a powerpc to run os 4.1 buy an sam460 you will get a bette machine for the money,,, natami is the ultimate classics to run os 3.9 on or am i worng |

| @cv64d:
Why i will not buy it ?
Because i sold my classic for the A1 to run OS4. So my next machine is going to be X1000. and so on. Im only interested in having one machine for amigaos and ofcourse laptop with win7 so i can do all the stuff i cant with my amiga. I almost never play old aga/ecs games and i have ps3 for it.
I use my miggy for hd-rec to make music to control my synthesizers etc.
sorry for the little offtopic but its just an answer to cv64d question :) |
