This is a high-end system, it's going to cost more than ¤600 I'd imagine! 'fraid you'll have to wait for the low-end system. But on the plus side this will drive the value of the current AOS machines down so you can get one of them in the meantime! |

| Hm, today my second Sam Board got damaged. Now I think about repairing it, still wait for Acubes answer, but then again even if it could be repaired, would it be better to wait for this new hardware, and then how long should it take until this HW is aviable. I'm on a stupid situation now again, and whatever I do I have to wait weeks or month or whateverstill I got a new OS4 computer, args, hate that ;) |

How about the Amiga OS 4.x API, is it worth it to (re)learn the Amiga API we know or will it change drastically in the near/medium future? |
This is a very important question - much more than the HW spec details, by the way. I'd also like to know. _________________ The Rear Window blog

Even a single core at 1.6 GHz + would make a nice replacement for my aging micro. |
I'm wondering why multi-core support couldn't be as simple as running another copy of OS4 on each core. _________________ It's got 32 bits and it uses them all. It's overclocked, watch the bouncing ball!

| I've tried to follow cesweb.org in case there's something new related to the CPU. So far nothing. Only ARM, ARM and ARM. Oh yes, also MIPS. _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer?

| What about drivers? The PCIe port will require graphics drivers for the cards available for this slot. Are those under way? |

Will this mean we leave the Amiga name?

You can't actually get it without one. |
Changing my response after reading the rest of the comments.
OK, I don't want a complete system. I've got a case I'd like to use it in that works well on my desk, and it takes a full ATX size motherboard. I've got several PSUs, HDs, etc to use, and can buy a new PCIe video card if I need to.
I'd rather put mine together on my own.
Can you say if retailers are going to be allowed to take the system apart and sell the pieces for people like me that don't want a complete system?Last edited by DWolfman on 07-Jan-2010 at 07:37 PM.

| I too prefer to build my own system, mainly because of the heavy financial penalty incurred in buying a built up system from the other side of the world, not only because of all those carbon miles! Commodore used to import to NZ by the container load but since there have been no local dealers or importers. Since Commodore we have become well used to building our own if we want something other than the cheapest windows machines. If I lived closer to source I would probably be happier to buy a builtup machine.

No worries, I'm sure you'll find plenty of people like me who'd be willing to buy the case from you to stick their XE or Flex in it.

Unless that voids the warranty.
I'd still rather have an official answer to being able to get just the motherboard. I know they want to sell them as complete systems, but that makes no sense if you exclude 20-30 percent of your market because you don't want to sell just the motherboard.
Note, I'm just guessing on the percentage, ok? _________________ This posting, in it's entirety, is the opinion and/or statement of the author and does not reflect the views and/or position of this site.
