Yes, IB is a dog when you have to run it for the first time. These days I exit every other program, prepare for shutdown, etc, before trying to run IB. About 50% of the time it will crash on first start.
I only use IB for sites where you need password storage. [/OT] _________________ cheers tony

| Seems like a bug in 68k emulation, then (or any kind of compatibility issue with 3.x, anyway). Last edited by Fab on 30-Mar-2011 at 12:32 PM.

I find that happens when the cache gets too big. Have you tried clearing it? _________________ If your nose runs and your feet smell, you're upside down.

On-topic for IBrowse startup issues
News threads fall off the page and can't be bumped without contacting staff. Posting issues in news threads is therefore often useless.

I really hope TW won't have issues like this.
But do what I suggested in that thread number6 linked to: - Don't use a start page. - Never leave the URL string active when clicking fastlinks or bookmarks. - Also try switching off the cache. - If you like to use OpenURL then start IB manually first, deactivate the URL string (by clicking somewhere else), then click the link in YAM or wherever to OpenURL it. _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft.

| @fab I think it is generally acknowledged to be an IBrowse bug (there are a lot of 68k software with bugs that don't happen to be visible on OS3.x), and IIRC it may even have been fixed in the unreleased update to IBrowse. _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. Generally acknowledged by who? As has been stated before, it is not a bug in IBrowse, but in the 68k emulation itself (I suspect in the area of the cpu cache flush handling, which we were asked to modify for 2.4 so that the whole cache was not flushed unnecesarily all the time which was a performance hit). _________________ IBrowse, AmiSSL and Warp Datatype Developer

| Sorry for any offence, info on the subject is very sparse.
Hmmm, if it is a known bug in the 68k emu, I am surprised it has not yet been fixed.... _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue...
