@Nutsaboutamiga

Uhm, MorphOS doesnt use 68k instructions to call OS 3 API

Quote:

Anyway Linux games runs on Amiga hardware too, so do this mean that Linux games are Amiga games too?

Linux game is Amiga game when it is ported to Amiga. I never considered Civilization or Colonization as a MS-DOS game when I played it on my Amiga. Earth 2140 was one of the best games for Amiga in ten years regardless of its Windows (?) background but I found Napalm quite boring. And so on...

Quote:

I think this games need to support the Classic OS3 platform or New AmigaOS4 to be called an Amiga game.

What is an Amiga is in the eye of the beholder. To me MorphOS is an amiga (when not maybe Amiga), someone else thinks AROS or WinUAE is his Amiga and someone else thinks only classics and AmigaOnes are Amigas. I know people who consider only classics are the real thing.

Quote:

If you like your games to work on OS3/OS4 you can always recompile the games for WarpUP I bet you get more sales to AmigaOS 3 & 4 users that way too nothing wrong about that

WarpUp is too much hassle because of context switches. Nobody is interested to optimize his game for WarpUp when it works in PPC native OS at full speed. AmigaOS 3 in general lacks in everything. OpenGL support is outdated, SDL support is bad, OS3 API lacks many functions available to OS4 and MOS and NDK 3.9 is very poor when compared to MOS and OS4 SDKs.

Did I mention OS3 is dead, too?

When it comes to OS4 there just isnt interest, just like there isnt interest in OS4 side to port to MOS. Open source stuff is usually very trivial anyway (especially now when you dont need Linux to run configure scripts for OS4).

And commercial games... what commercial games?

(Edit: though I was surprised when I saw Desert Racing of Bardos released for classics... and it looked good too)

@Itix: Colonization, especially, was a port done properly. Civilization is not so nicely "amigazed" (Horrible menus) but it's a good game anyway..

hey you are just jealous beacuse the OS4 gang can't play this great games in the top.. VGP2 is a great game and Quake3 is also a great game.. I hope this continue. More games..

I am sure OS4 users would be happier if these games existed for their platform, but that has nothing to do with the issue here.. The problem is that you call it a Amiga game, when infact it is a MorphOS/Pegasos game. A MorphOS game does not belong in a poll about Amiga games, but should rather be in a poll of its own.

I personally would not have problem if it was specified that the said game was infact for MorphOS.

and you don't AmigaINC's behaviour is ridiculous. Their homepage is a casino site.. doesn't look so good in my eyes.. They don't do a #### to promote OS4...

I dont like how AmigaINC does its business either. But that sadly changes the matter...

In my eyes the troika will not be a Amiga either, unless it has been licensed by the owners.

@all

My point was Amiga Games should run under AmigaOS wether they run under XL UAE Amithlon just as long as they run under AmigaOS. ANY flavor of AmigaOS

It would be the equivelent of calling something that runs under Linux, a Windows game just becuase it runs on an X86 box. Same thing and just as silly.

I do not call a MorphOS game an Amiga game but do not compare the Windows and Linux situation to the AmigaOS and MorphOS situation, they have absolutely nothing in common. Windows is alien to Linux, MorphOS is not alien to AmigaOS.

What would you call a program running under Amithlon relying heavily on X86 native code? Will it still be an Amiga Game by your standards? Believe me, real life is far from being black and white.

What?

Quake 3 Arena available for the Amiga?

When did it happen?

Is it just for PPC+Gfx card?

Where do you download it from?

Is it just for AOS4 or classic Amigas?

Thanks

Download the MorphOS version from here. You will need an original Quake3 too.

Hyperion has made an OS4 version, but did not released it to date, but you can give it a go compiling it for OS4 yourself. The sources for the MorphOS version are available at the same url.

Hyperion did NOT make an OS4 version. I did. But no, I didn't release it yet.
