Software News   Software News : SmartFileSystem (1.227) released
posted by _Steve_ on 18-Jul-2004 20:38:30 (5111 reads)
The latest version of the atomic filesystem SmartFileSystem (SFS) has been released today.

Changes since v1.212 include:

1.227
  • More ACTION_SET_FILESIZE changes.
  • ACTION_ADD_NOTIFY now returns ERROR_BAD_NUMBER if the notification is neither a NRF_SEND_MESSAGE nor a NRF_SEND_SIGNAL notification.
  • Finally checks for and disables RDB partitions on removable media abuse.

1.226
  • Fixed a bug in the 1.219 ACTION_SET_FILESIZE changes.

1.221
  • Fixed potential problem with the improved transaction failure block.
  • Fixed a bug in the ':' removal, trying to access "abc:def:ghi" now returns an error instead of accessing "abc:ghi", reported by Mario Cattaneo.

1.219
  • ACTION_SET_FILESIZE now works as in RAM-handler, old FFS and as documented in the dos autodoc, it doesn't mess around with the file offset in other locks anymore but enlarges the requested size if required.

1.217
  • No longer uses MEMF_PUBLIC for buffers.

1.214
  • Changed some Defragmeter parameters to speed it up on slow CPUs.
  • Bug in the defragmenter fixed!

1.213
  • Fixed enforcer hit when trying to delete something from an empty .recycled dir, reported by Detlef Würkner.

You can find the latest release on Aminet here.

True, but it could also mean the first week. Which could be anything between 1 and 7 days?

Anything that has a "1" after it on aminet is new for me!

Hi

if you have a version under 1.2xx isn't compatible with the latest versions.

Have you 1.114? are you sure?

If is really so, a format is required.

Ciao

nope

the first week is Age=0 and stay at 0 for ~ 1 week. After 8 days will become Age=1 (take a look to the Recent)

Ciao

Hi turkamigaman

for a plain A1200, SFS is a good choise.

I have actually installed SFS 1.227 but NOT on a boot partition so i don't know if this last version has problem, as reported by VooDoo.

To be 100% sure, use SFS 1.214

Ciao

Bug in the kickstart 3.0/3.1 scsi.device, use SFS 1.214 for now.

Hi joerg

i'm using with IdeFix scsi.device.

Can i still use it without risks?

The only "sensation", is that 1.227 seems a little bit slower than 1.214 . . . or is it me?

I have SFS installed, only on a partition for Amigift and it seems stable.

Cheers

I am using 1.227 on my boot partitions and several others with no problems at all.

I updated from to it from v1.212. The last time I had to reformat I believe was going from 1.84 to 1.19x. Since then each new version works ok when updated from the previous one.

@FRAmiga

I also have IDEFix installed. I can't remember if I still use IDEFix's scsi replacement or NSDPatches one (as supplied with OS3.9). However, I had been using SFS since v1.84 on OS3.1 and 3.5 with IDEFix's scsi replacement library without any problems at all, so I shouldn't envisage you having any should you make use of it.
