@ nzv58l

He isn't an AmigaOne dealer. The accessories he sells aren't AmigaOne specific, they could just as well be used for Pegasos and PCs.

"I know you have some sort of personal vendetta against me for telling facts about things when ppl here were glossing them over (i.e dma issues and such)"

Thats just paranoia. If I had any kind of personal vendetta against you it certainly wouldn't be because you stuck to the facts.

You can either take the advice, or ignore it. Thats the best thing about advice, its free.

Dave.

the pegasos/mos is going downhill and all of a sudden we should forget the past? ...nah its time to wake up and study what happened, last time we didnt and the time before then aswell...we need to learn and we need to understand everything that went wrong.

anyway personal opinions or whatever shouldnt be mixed with biz.

if there is something you need that realize has in his shop then buy it, if not...then dont.

but seriously Our community (aros,Amigaos,Morphos,Uae and amithlon)has faces we see and are quite fammiliar with and if you dont like him then you wont buy from him either...easy as that..... and this one thing is very special with this (small) community.

hell we all know why pegasos sold as it did... bill the buck car salesman ruined the market even before he had a product to sell but nah he is a good guy right?

**EDIT: Fixed some horrendous "that,thats thats.... "

There is no need to overstress your permanent subscription to Truth and Knowledge. There has been more than one occasion in the past where I had different opinions on what "truth" is.

@nzv

Thanks for the positive comments. Yes, that is old information. We do have a Flyer in stock if you are interested. We do not at this time sell A1 boards or systems due to the high costs of the boards, even for dealers. If/when this price comes down I would like to sell A1 systems. Also, there is an issue of demand.. (this goes for Peg too before all the trolls come out the woodwork - the demand part that is)

realize

@Toaks

the Bill Buck stuff is beyond boring at this point. The Pegasos is not "going downhill" and neither is MOS. Yes, a key MOS dev is at odds with some ppl in Genesi management but when hasnt this happened to a tech company? Morphos is still being actively developed daily and ports and native software come out weekly..

@Rogue

Yes, I know. As I said, the facts AS I KNOW THEM TO BE. Is the best I can give. Being somewhat of an "insider" in the PPC marketplace and having direct meetings with Motorola, IBM, Novell, Real Networks, Atari and others about the current PPC market and its players (read MAi and Marvell for instance) led me to my conclusions I post here.

PS: I edited my avatar for you guys so I wont get all the ravenous trolls after me...

I'm gonna take a chance and go slightly "off topic" here...

Just out of curiousity:

wtf?

First off, aren't those babies supposed to cost an arm and a leg?
Second, what are the specs? (Does it come with a model number, for instance? )
And last, "for Amiga" - define, please. (Bundled software? Or does it "behave" like a regular printer?)

The owner of this [company] and I have been friends for years and have had more disagreements and heated discussions than any of you. Differences of opinion have not affected our friendship nor the ability to do business. There's such a thing as "civilized discourse" and those of you who think that someone forfeits their right to hold and express a differing opinion simply because you have given them money in return for some merchandise are just being childish. That's MY opinion.

This discussion is leading nowhere. The vitriol both for and against will have to cease. Please all follow what HWGA has written and DO NOT add to the tensions within the thread. Those who who do not heed this warning will be twiddling their fingers over their mice unable to get into Amigaworld, for a couple of days. You have all said what was "needing" to be said, so now my post marks this demarcation point.

I find what mjohnson has written to be interesting, please focus on such issues.

Nice attitude guys, show the world what *amiga* spirit is all about these days, certainly not what it used to be.

@Darth_X

Oh dear, more off topic stuff.

Fact is in real life you reap what you sow. There are always consequences to actions.

The Amiga "community" hasn't been "what it was" for a long time, and nor has the extended community war been anything anyone should be proud of. If you were here ( on the websites ) you were part of it and hold part responsibility.

I tried to explain to realize why he got the reaction he did from some, there is a lot of resentment bubbling under the surface and one can say "its wrong, its off topic" but its there and its going to effect his business. Its a shame but thats the way life is. It is not even a criticism of realize, Im sure that there are people who would never do business with me because of the personal convictions I hold and voice. I accept that. But then I don't advertise on MorphZone and its really nowhere near my target market.

If business could be seperated entirely from personal then Im sure that would be grand. Thats one reason why people who write under the same psuedonym for their business as their personal convictions should consider using a disclaimer at the end of their posts.

People who run businesses have to have business smarts, and that is when you are wearing your business hat you steer clear of religion, politics and toast.

As it is, you are really not in a position to criticise others in this way ( for not showing the Amiga spirit etc). However now IS the time to move on.

@moderator

Remove this if you feel it is necessary.

@thread

It seems that both sides will remain just that, sides. I'm not going to bother trying to keep both sides apart anymore in this thread. You knew Darth_X that you would be testing the waters right after my post... alas, I thought you to be an "online friend", great for the joke even though we may not see eye-to-eye on some issues not necessarily connected stricly, with the OS4 and MOS debate. You have now brought what's coming upon yourself... Just don't forget onbe thing, I have deleted many Abuse Reports Reports against you, but I WILL be keeping a special eye out on you. I will post this in capitals for emphasis: ONE MORE POST WHICH I DEEM CONTRAVENES THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS SITE, YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF EXCLUDED FROM ACCESS TO THIS SITE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THIS IS NOT ACCORDING TO MY WILL, BUT ACCORDING TO YOUR OWN ACTIONS AND WILL.

Both sides can now engage in whatever vitriol they desire.

@Ikir

Yeah, dont forget "Amiga" dealer. We had an official license with Amiga Technologies and have sold and serviced "Amigas" for over 10 years.

@lowvid747 thank you for the backup.

@Rest of thread who kept it positive (HWG and others) thank you.

realize

@Bodie

Thats just the problem. People shouldnt take "sides" it should be about the realities of whats left of the Amiga community.

Guys, give him some break. I think that the whole MOS episode has hurted the Amiga community. Those who left for it are not coming back.

I know that Realize hasn't been so nice towards AmigaOS4 development but then again, why should we take his comments as Total Truth - he is not involved in the development of AO4 as far as I know.

But we really shouldn't treat the Amiga dealers who are still left, like this. Of course, the same applies to the rare developers we have.

If we want the wounds to heal we have to understand what happened.

Buck wanted (and still wants) to keep people divided - for his own gain.

however annoying it was to hear Bucks ideas spoken by others, we need to forgive that. The focus of anyone's distain should be Buck and only Buck. Our fellow amiga users (no matter if they like MOS or AmigaOne, WinUAE, AROS, etc) should be embraced.

Basically, if we continue to push each other away and fight (not discuss and debate which is always ok), then only ONE person wins. and that person is Buck. Edit: Reason name calling

Push Buck away.

yes, it won't happen all at once, but if we stay focused we can defeat the evil Buck and get his influence removed from our community.

The negative reaction has absolutely nothing to do with the facts themselves. It has everything to do with how those facts were presented and shared. You have to be careful with what you write in these web forums because the audience has no way of knowing what your background is or what your personality is like and that can very quickly lead to misunderstanding your true intentions.

I don't know a lot about marketing but I do know you don't build long term relationships with customers by attacking a competitor's product with negative publicity. In the short term, it helps but in the long term, it can hurt you. That much about marketing I think I do understand. In other words, it will take some time to heal the wounds that have been opened.

Good luck and stay cool.

@cecilia

Realizing I'm running the risk of being banned here but you go too far.

'Sides' were taken on this debate long before Genesi and Bill Buck. With the exception of the people directly involved in the various disputes that split the community, no one should be taking a stance like you have here and propogating hate.

It is, however, crazy to think people won't have a personal preference anyway when given two similar choices. Lets face it, when many people made that choice...it was the only one for the future of an 'amiga-like' system.

Do you also advocate we push people Ben Hermans (plus cronies) away for all the FUD spread when Amiga Inc didn't have a product?

Please don't have double standards and don't make the issues personal, unless you are directly involved. You are one of the people I genuinely thought to be above that. In any case, this is certainly not the place for such personal attacks. (Either in this thread or on AW.NET)

@ thread

I have bought a couple of things in the past from magnetic, no-one should have any problem using them as a dealer - very professional and courteous service. Hopefully, once the uA1 (or XC???) becomes more plentiful and therefore comes down in price magnetic will carry these items.

@ cecilia

Please refrain from name calling. I am not a Bill Buck fan myself, but name calling on public forums won't help anyone. Also Bill Buck is still respected by many people within the MorphOS community and therefor such statements easily qualify as flamebait.

Stating politely formulated criticism would be fine.
