hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : Give Amy her Face...Wanna Win an Amy'05 board? - Read on..
   posted by Troika on 13-Oct-2005 22:36:25 (12525 reads)
Troika is giving away a free Amy'05 board, either beta or production, to one lucky individual who can design a front facia to fit on mini-itx and micro-atx tower cases. We are looking for one standard design that will clearly identify the Amy series of computers.

The winning entry must be in jpeg format and should be in two versions for Tower and Desktop cases. You don't have to be a graphics wiz to enter, we will work from the best design and turn your sketch into reality.

All entries must be submitted in jpeg format and will be judged by Troika. Enter as often as your wish. Closing date is the 12th of November 2005, please do not forget to include a working return email address with your entry.

Now is your chance to Immortalise yourself in Amiga history! - Get designing!!!

Send alll entries to: newface4amy@troikang.com

@wegster and thread,

I do not think they're talking about making a custom case....could be wrong, but think about the $.

Yes, I think it is pretty clear from this statement.

We are looking for the front panel face design in both the horiz. (desktop) and vertical (tower).

It's wide open rules after that, we will do the work to match the winning design to the case we pick.

Which to me sounds very much like they just want a "design" that they can adapt to the size they choose and print, paint, mold or sticker onto the face plate of a case of their own choice.

I think any discussions about the size of the mobo or case are irrelevant here as they will most probably choose something that fits their own requirements.

The only considerations would be how capable the design is to accomodate various shapes and sizes as the exact dimensions are not known beforehand.

Something simple, easily recognizable and distinctive sounds like a good guess to me.

@samos3.9

Sorry man, you need to polish that one upp a bit!

@all

Could it be that Troika will only sell the mobo with some front plates to be put in any miniITX case (Desktop or Tower). Only that the user can buy the case he wants! And he just replaces the original plate with the ony from Troika!

This way Everyone can have his favorite case but still using a distinguishable logo.

I don't think it will be that easy. Cases differ in size from brand to brand, and it would be near impossible to design a "one size fits all" front panel for this purpose. They would, in my opinion, have the panels made to work with a particular case design from a single manufacturer, and then offer it as a complete system. I wouldn't expect to see this marketed by itself, as it sounds to be a branded case at that point. This is just my own speculation, mind you.

@Klesterjr

No, the entire front of the case, not just a filler plate. They want the whole front.

My own take on it.

And with some colors:

Yeah, not too bad. It's a bit abstract though, as I'm not sure the Flex size, nor how the case itself is formed. I sent a mail to the troika guys with the URL. The pics are not in JPEG, but I guess they know how to use PNG instead ;)

This is my suggestion for Amys face. I like white cases. Mac inspired .
Also imagine a nice red glow around the front panel.
