Software News   Software News : TuneNet V0.78a Released
posted by Bean on 17-Apr-2006 1:24:16 (5937 reads)
The latest alpha version of TuneNet, the OS4 Music/Internet Radio Player, has
been submitted to the OS4 depot site (so it should be available shortly).

Main improvements include:
* Better playback preferences: Simple, X-Fade or Gapless playback.
* Encoder plugin support for Recording streams to different formats.
* Shoutcast Broadcasting (still rather basic, but functional - requires an
appropriate encoder).

* 3rd party plugin support for an array of sound formats including:
XM, S3M, IT, FC, AHX, TFMX and many more, in fact around 25 formats are now
supported - Thanks Per Johansson!
* Improvements to Reaction GUI.
* Tighter playback with less stuttering (hint adjust the playback priority).
* Repeat playlist, sub song support, auto/manual mix mode (for good headphone
listening for old 4 channel MODS etc..), Open URL requester..

..and much more.

NOTE: Older plugins will not work with this release, please download newer
ones.

The TuneNet site (http://www.tunenet.co.uk) will be updated tomorrow to
reflect the changes on OS4 depot along with full Source code for some of the
plugins (where required under license). A support email address for bug
reports/feature requests will also be set up in the next few days.

TuneNet is Freeware, and work-in-progress - Enjoy

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

@Bean

Having trouble with the new TN version & the ShoutCast server being flaky isn't helping either.

1. I start TN & select a station to play.

2. If I then double click another station, the 1st station continues to play while TN tries to stream the new station. The 1st station will eventually stop, but the 2nd station doesn't start so TN drops back to the 1st station again. TN v.72a would stop play right away & start buffering the new station & play it.

3. Clicking 'stop' stops play, but then selecting another station only starts the 1st one playing again. Quiting & re-starting then gets me a station scanning error.

4. If I quit again, my internet activity becomes very active like it's streaming audio to NIL & I need to re-boot to stop this activity.

At this time I've had system lockups & GRs, but not always.

Can anyone else duplicate this?

Edit: Ok, just started TN after a re-boot & got the station scanning error & the heavy net activity started up again & continues after quiting TN.

Hi,

i think here is a server [68k only] :

http://selco.da.ru

Has anyone been able to get this to work with OS4? When I start it with 'selcocast_stream_server 8000 "password" ' it seems to execute OK, but when I try to connect to it with TuneNet, it accepts the connection and then immediately drops it, and TuneNet give a 'Broadcast Authentication Error'. It would be nice if someone could figure out how to make OS4, TuneNet, and Selcocast play nicely together.

Switch to "simple play" in the preferences, it'll stop it queing more than one station at a time. Doesn't sounds as good when everything is working as it should however!

Problems with the shoutcast site I'm afraid.

If I get a chance tonight I'll make a change which should enable better connectivity with a the shoutcast site. Basically the shoutcast site is slow at the moment and TuneNet gets bored and gives up.

Cheers,
Bean.

I'll give it a go if I get time and see what happens. Most testing was to other machines (Linux / Windows) running the shoutcast server.

Cheers,
Bean.

Great, that worked. Wish all problems were that "simple", thanks.

I've added a small FAQ here:

Hope this helps some people.

Bean.

From: Melton Mowbray - Porkpie centre.

I have a problem with Tunenet not activating my surround sound when started first.
If i shut down then start AmigaAmp and play a song i get surround sound then shut that down.
Now Tunenet plays surround sound when restarted.
I use a soundblaster live.
A1G4XE Radeon 9250.

Is this problem only on my system because i don`t see anyone else reporting this?

Great program by the way. Thanks.
I am using your latest version.
