posted by Zettmaster on 17-Apr-2006 13:08:54 (5774 reads)
AWeb is now 3.5.08 =)

CHANGES FROM 3.5.07 to 3.5.08

AMISSL
AWeb now supports the new amissl.library version 3. Support for older versions has
been dropped. Amissl version 3 is more secure, faster, easier to install.
Amissl comes as part of OS4 from update 4 and is available for m68k systems from
http://www.heightanxiety.com/AmiSSL/ .

ALPHA BLENDING FOR awebpng.awebplugin.
The png plugin now supports alpha blending / alpha channel support on screen depths
greater than 8bits, for AmigaOS 4.0 and Morphos versions.
The Amiga OS 4 version uses the libablit written by Jürgen Schober.

ETAG

AWeb now supports the etag tecnique for cache validation.

OS4 MEMORY SYSTEM

The main executable has been adapted to abide by the new OS4 memory rules,
the awebplugins and aweblibs still misbehave.

GENERAL BUGFIXES

Many bug fixes dramatically increasing stabilty (touch wood).

Has anything been done to support more HTML and Javascript stuff?
It seems everything new in every version is about program features
and bug fixes rather than improving the web experience..
Or am I wrong?

Maybe you are waiting for KHTML?

You are wrong

There have been http extentions (which are as important as html), there have been html related "tweaks", but really AWeb html support is near fully compliant html 4.01 with most "standard non standard" extensions. At least one common xhtml habit using /> to create a self closing tag has implemented (more important than you might think, that one).

I and some of the AWeb beta testers are currently running AWeb with a near complient javascript 1.5 / ecma 262-3, but this is not stable enough to infict on the general public yet.

@broadblues

Ok. This was the information I wanted. Now I can try it out.

Btw have you done anything about the usability while browsing?
URL completion, TAB's, "normal browser" browser icon layout etc..

I used to hate the GUI layout of AWeb before.. I'm more of a IBrowse
fan really.. But if improvements have been made I'm all for change

AWebs navigation bar layout has been configuarable sinec a couple of versions ago.
The default remains the one you dislike as this works best if space is limited.
Goto gui settings and play arround.

URL completeion is errr TODO

TABs?

If you navigating forms with tab button yes
