The board wasn't ready until yesterday and therefore I very
much doubt that Amiga Inc. has any knowledge that the
board exists (ready that is).

Amiga Inc. hasn't exactly shown much progress lately..
The latest news posted on Amiga.com was 11 months ago.

Yes, entirely possible based on the following:
We have statements indicating a series of announcements that were to be delivered in a predetermined order. As to exact purpose concerning this order, THAT part would be mere speculation.
Logic would dictate that if some final details were being ironed out regarding licensing, that this would fall 3rd in line behind the previous two announcements.
The current announcement stands to prove their word, as I see it.

Thanks. Are you quoting ACube in the above or is it your own wording? Maybe I have missed some statement/post containing such information.

ok. That's a fair question.
At the risk of drawing the ire of either Bill or Max, I will say that communications continued after Pianeta Amiga, every step of the way.
Also, there are people here who do bring things to each other's attention, to try and prevent vital info from falling through the cracks. That has been a necessity, due to limited resources I have discussed previously.
I can not speak as to what they have communicated in the last 24 hours since this most recent announcement.

The specific word "predetermined" is my own based on what I mentioned about #3 (licensing) being 3rd in line.
I think the order makes sense from a business perspective based on:
(1)Telling the general public what they will be doing regarding sales/service
(2)Meeting their obligation (self imposed) to the public concerning a March deadline.
(3)Everything else would necessarily follow 1 & 2 above

Good news. Yet another proove that ACube announces anything only when there's something to announce. This probably means that OS4 still cannot be run/distributed on/with SAM. But I guess if they would give up on this they would announce it the same way. So, we just have to wait for next announcement. They achived their goals so far so I belive in them.

I don't think he has officially declared himself a spokesman for ACube.
It's more a case of m3x not being able to read this site every day and respond to posts, which he has clearly stated.
Therefore, people with exceptional english language skills, like Stefano, watch for inaccuracies and attempt to correct them. He's not alone in that endeavor.

These types of implications have been wrong too many times before. Bottom line is that if there is no accouncement then there is no license. I'm done assuming, reading between the lines, and more importantly - waiting for hardware that people can buy to run AOS4 on. Any enthusiasm that I may have had for the platform has long since been sucked out of me by too many broken promisses.

If this announcement is genuine, why did they wait and post it so late that it was already April 1st in some parts of the world. After all, they had all day Saturday. Instead, we have is the usual speculation, uncertainty and doubt.

I am going to take the announcement with a grain of salt, and wait and see what transpires next.

They literally had nothing to show until Thursday, and then they probably wanted to run tests to make sure that they wouldn't have to back down on their announcement. These guys were burning the midnight oil and they made their deadline, one has to respect that.

Agreed - I refuse to read between the lines any more, too much crap has happened. Until Amiga Inc comes out and endorses OS4 on SAM440, this is only slightly more interesting than the Efika announcements. Slightly more because Bill McEwen mentioned them in the past, but then Amiga Inc has been known to change their minds (see eg Amithlon)

I won't be at all surprised if it isn't another 3-6 months before (a) it is licensed for OS4, and (b) it is available for general consumers to buy. Which would bring it out almost 2 years after Troika was supposed to have delivered Amy'05... Amazing how time flies when you're, err, "having fun", isn't it?

But I don't see the connection? Troika and Acube are two entirely seperate, non related entities?

I think the part about catweasel is significant. That is one of the first things you see on the AmigaOne. I'd say this is very close to running OS4, if not running it already.

That may be true, but until Amiga Inc issues a license no one other than beta testers can use it. I hope that ACube manages to get their $500K/year contracts soon, otherwise we won't be seeing much...

The Sam440 project started exactly 1 year ago and has nothing to do with Troika/Amy/etc. Finally we have a company who keep their promises and can deliver new hardware relatively fast. I'm sure Amiga Inc. won't let this opportunity pass. I'm already looking forward to other projects from ACube based on the newly available SoC solutions from Freescale and/or P.A. Semi.

Any information from Hyperion about AOS4 porting to Sam440 or SamGeForceVariant?

Is porting started?

Are licence negotiations ongoing or completed or halted or .... ?
