posted by Lecta on 27-Nov-2009 20:21:36 (8586 reads)

ACube Systems is pleased to announce the release of a new version of U-Boot firmware for its line of motherboards Sam440ep and Sam440ep-flex.
This version addresses a number of problems and add some features and optimizations making it possible to cut down boot time by 3-12 seconds depending on the configuration of the board.

What's new in this version (for both versions):

* faster graphic card initialization, now it takes half the time than previous U-Boot version
* unified the first two countdowns, for an even faster boot
* solved compatibility issues with some Radeon 9200 and 9250 gfx cards
* reworked preference menu

Sam440ep miniITX version:

* a Radeon HD 2400 graphic card could be now used as secondary gfx card

Sam440ep-flex version:

* added support for Silicon Motion 502 graphic card
* added sperimental support for Catweasel MK4 controller
* a Radeon HD 2400 graphic card could be now used in both 33 and 66 Mhz PCI slots

From 36-38 seconds I came down to 29-31. So now I boot about 7 seconds faster.

Thank you very much ACube!

Already I have installed the UBoot with more fear than Bin Laden front US army, and after to change the cable of my DVD slim because again I had problems with the unit, the Uboot was installed and the principal changes are two to single view, new boot preferences and curiosly the letters now are more white bright that before with new and more easy options and other when appear the OS 4 intro screen the strange pixels on it now they have disappear, other changes I haven't saw, I test the system with Ranger and 3D games and demos and all run very well.
And that's all friends.

Thanks ACube!

My boot time has only been reduced by 3 seconds (33 to 30). Obviously I haven't tried hard enough to reduce the time, because I've seen that some folks have much faster booting.

The post-boot graphical glitches in Workbench windows seem to be gone. Maybe they have just moved elsewhere, or maybe that was a UBoot bug all along?

Intruiging! Maybe time for me to try disabling the debug kernel?

Hello,

This is verry funny

I have an USB to PS2 adapter with a PS2 mouse and a ps2 keyboard.

- access to Uboot or choosing AOS4 or linux work fine.
- Use enter to choose the update of the uboot work fine

but

Press the space key (under the warning message not work).

That mean I CAN'T UPDATE the Uboot to 1.3.1a

Hope when I will update the Uboot, the mouse and keyboard will work perfectly with uboot 1.3.1a and an USB to ps2 adaptator.
