Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : AWompatition time! Celebrating 25 years of the Amiga
posted by _Steve_ on 31-Mar-2010 23:41:56 (17124 reads)
To aid in the celebrations for the Amiga having been with us for the last 25 years, in conjunction with Trevor Dickinson and A-EON, Amigaworld are proud to announce their biggest competition to date - the AW 25th Anniversary Celebration Puzzle Competition (or AWompetition 2!)

Update 2010-04-13: Email works now, so you can start sending in your answers, if you have submitted the answers before today, please resend, to make sure it came through /tomazkid

With this somewhat special event, we have some incredibly special prizes to be won kindly donated from a variety of sources, not least of which is coming from A-EON themselves!

Full details of this competition can be found here.

Winners will be announced on the 23rd July - the actual 25th Anniversary day.

@Comi

Yes, I had that in mind, but due to lack of time IRL, as well as the gradual announcement of the prize winners, we wanted the competition to get started now.

Experience from AWompetition 1 sponsor hunt was that you need 2-3 weeks for the job, so everyone gets enough time to answer.

But of course, if someone feels like "hey, I'd like to add a prize to this competition too!",
I think that is doable

""
The Part 6:
In mid June all the contestants who have correctly identified at least 100 "Amiga faces" and 25 "Amiga Images" with correct quantity, as well have the correct number of Boing Balls and identified the "Mystery Spaceman" will qualify for the run for the First and Second Prize.

The winners of the 1st and 2nd prizes will be chosen from the contestants who have correctly answered all questions. However, if no one has managed this, the winners would be determined by the most right answers in part 1 & part 2 plus the correct answers for both part 3 & part 4.

If more than one contestant scores 100% on the quiz, or there is a tie, then the tie-break question will be used to select the 1st and 2nd prize winners.

The Part 7:
2nd Prize winner will be announced to coincide with the 25th Amiga Anniversary Event at the Vintage Computer Fair in England.
Prize: AmigaOS4 for PPC equipped Classic Amiga's donated by Hyperion-Entertainment.

The 8th and final part:
1st prize winner will be announced announced on July 23rd to coincide with the birth of the Amiga and the Amiga-Event in Essen Germany on the 24th July.
""

In the part above it is very much possible to add prizes, after all, only number 1 and 2 gets a prize in this part, so there is room for more prizes.

OK, I am going to say this once and only once.... This is a competition thread. It WILL NOT be derailed by comments about other operating systems or snide comments about the product(s) being offered.

Any more comments made along these lines will be met with instant posting restrictions. I have asked politely before, and it seems to fall on deaf ears. Enough is enough.

I never had an A4000T or otherwise, above my price bracket

Hello!
I will try to join in the AWompatition but I have a problem because I can´t write on the pdf/sheet.
How I can fix it?

PS: I'm from Seville, Spain, and I come to the community after being owner of some amiga computers (a500,a1200,cd32,a4000). Actually, I am excited to the new project A1-x1000. Finally please excuse my vocabulary because I don´t speak English

Welcome from me too! BTW Your English looks very good to me and 100% better than my Spanish.

I suggest you send a PM to @Tomazkid about your problem with the PDF answer sheet. I'm sure he will have a solution.

Ah, but he didn't say prototYpe. He said prototApe. I'll bet anything none of those 5 are constructed from tape alone.

So there

Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.

Seems like A-Eon should switch from producing computers to producing puzzles. They deliver fast and deliver quality products with complete specifications.

What was the necessity in this insult? The answer is none. Don't bait.

You have opportunity to do your own competition on PPA site . 1st prize, second hand, dirty MacMini, 2nd prize MOS 2.4 demo.

Don't take the bait in a post like Krashan's. Hit the report button instead. And certainly don't try to escalate things with low blows about dirty used equipment and giving away a free demo as a prize.

Hi Hans,
Terminator, Marlyn Monroe, Madonna, and Max HeadRoom were works designed by artists using Amigas. The Marlyn Monroe graphix art is done by Andy Warhol, I'm sure.
