The Register

Apparently somebody from the Register staff was present at the VCF show and has reported on the AmigaOne X1000.
Positive news item.

Mod note: this news item was also submitted by HyperionMP, so this is a mix of both, to get a bit more content to this news item

Mikey_C:

Well AROS was represented at the show. I don't really see AROS advocates bashing anyone.

Not at all, Actually I admire Steve (ClusterUK) he knows how to do it properly, its the other people who, are happy to bash Amiga, bash Hyperion, bash the cost etc, but as soon as there is a news item in the press about AmigaOS elsewhere in the media they are in there like a pack of hyenas sniffing for the left overs.

@Mikey_C

Thanks mate that was very nice, but the credit as usual goes to you and Ants for the great weekend. Best time I have had for years.

I do believe in softly softly catchy monkey

Did you blush like me with Laura Jane.

@Mikey_C,

I try to resist the temptation to respond to the nay sayers because they're only interested in baiting for argument which, by responding, I would actually be providing ammunition for. Their pointless confrontation bait then gets maximum air-time on the forum front page, fueled by us lot. It's just a waste of everyone's time in my opinion.

What I have observed over the last few months is that there are a small group of people who from the very beginning made it quite clear that they had absolutely no interest in buying the X1000, and yet these same people seem to spend all of their time criticizing its price or its spec or the delays or whatever.
Now, I can understand them admitting in the first instance that they're not interested in it - that's fine, they're entitled to their opinion and they're entitled not to buy it. Nobody is forcing them to buy one. But what I don't understand is why they insist on constantly pouring scorn on the idea of the X1000 at any and every opportunity. They've already decided they don't want one, so why should they care about the price or the specs or how late it's going to be or blah blah blah?
There's only one explanation. And that is, they are trolls with nothing better to do.

I have an opinion about Apple products which is that I generally despise them and have done since the 80s. But you won't catch me on any Apple forums pouring scorn over the latest Apple product to hit the market. I don't like the Apple products, I don't want to buy one, and I'm not interested in one. If someone else enjoys Apple products and wants to spend their hard earned on them, then fair enough I leave them to it. And that's what distinguishes a person with a negative opinion on something and a person who's only motive is to troll. You'll never win any argument with the latter, because the argument is what they wanted in the first place.

PS: Great news item about the X1000.

AH.

I have to say I liked Steve's presentation too, very good at showing off what AROS can do, the desktop looked really slick, and without any Amiga bashing or anything :) Thanks guys, was a great show! Unfortunately I didn't get back to it on Sunday, other stuff came up

Looks okay,

please fix the grammar. It is "the most powerful" NOT "the most powerfulest".

@Kronos
I had more problem with the wording than MOS being mentioned. Also he made it seems like it was only alternative to X1000 when infact you also have the acube hardware. He could have at least at same time mentioned other flavours of choices as well.
It is just that MOS users seems to flood to every news article or forum about OS4.x to promote their beloved OS while at same time slagging off the OS4.x hardware or OS.

Usually also recognize the names from moobunny.. the same people who sit there all day spreading fud and coming up with conspiracy theories.

A better comparision would be Suse users who visit every forum thread about ubuntu or comment every news about ubuntu just to promote their beloved suse while slagging off ubuntu.

Also take for example one of the threads going at amiga.org now.. Alot of fud going on there now and some guy even managed to find something negative to say about the keyboard and how a-eon is using it only to milk money from the naive OS4 "enthusiasts". Some of the people in blue and aros camp find something negative to dig up about absolutely everything.

@Tomas
Haven't read these comments but normally it's not the active (OS4,) AROS and MOS users that causes problems. IMO it's usually the guys who stopped using the Amiga 5 years+ ago who's slagging every effort off. They are patheticand should just leave the community!

@DAX / @amigang

Looks good, a new starting point on these adverts, any more thoughts, i will need several ideas before I can progress and update the banners live in PROD. Then over the course of another year we should get at least NORTH of another 1-million unique views.

@Mikey_C

I met Steve Jones in LA way back in 1996. He is a great guy and always filled with cool ideas for the Amiga community. He came to LA with Paul Nolan to hang out for the Video Toaster Expo and dream about all stuff Amiga. I'm glad to see he is still around.

If that's a PA Semi chip in the X1000, do you think there would be interest to get a bounty going to port the open video toaster to it?

Porting Open Video Toaster to X1000 would be awesome!
