   posted by amigakit on 5-Mar-2019 16:16:24 (1991 reads)
A-EON Technology Ltd is pleased to announce a new version of PPaint 7.3c for Classic OS3 and OS4.

New users: you can purchase Personal Paint download from the official PPaint.com website or AMIStore App Store. The boxed edition can be purchased directly from Amiga Kit Amiga Store.

Existing users: The update is free download for registered users of version 7.3 from Updater tool or Amisphere.com website.

Changes for this new version against 7.3b:

Feature additions:

* Add polygon mode to grab brush tool.

* Update Itialian translation (contributed Luca Longone)

Bug fixes:

* Fix long filename support.

* Fix buffer overflows in brush scaling.

* Fix buffer overflows in brush shearing.

* Extend internal brush structure to include shear status values so that when shearing brush twice in a row is starts from the current sheared state and not the original brush state.

* Fix incorrect calculation of visible files in builtin requester resulting in
an occasional corrupt looking filename at end of file list.
(personal_req.library 1.11)

* Fix (work around) extra spacing in thin gadget mode that left areas of uncleared disabled hatching when certain gadgets were enabled (button and tickbox). personal_req.library 1.12

* Fix single pixel brush "sticking" in MATTE mode after using a custom brush.

* Fix positioning of flood / fill pointer hot spot.

We would like to thank Amiga Developer team member, Andy Broad for his hard work on this update. We would also like to thank our beta testers for their valuable feedback.

Very cool to see updates to productivity software on the Amiga

Graphics and spreadsheets are some of the things I use my PC for quite a bit, and its nice to see these aspects getting attention on the Classic.

A big thank you !

Only had to use 'installation utility' 53.12 from the OS4.1 cd, because 53.18 crashed.
Minor: Animations drawer is not there, .txt and PPaint73.guide link to 'multiviewer:multiviewer'

@amigang

We will aim to work towards 7.4, however at the moment the project is in the "red" financially and if there are more sales to make it viable then the money will be re-invested to keep development rolling on.

@Bennymee

If you haven't yet purchased it, then I would encourage you to buy and install the Enhancer Software. Most A-EON software benefits from having it installed.

@bennymee

You are missing out on a lot of great software such as the excellent MultiViewer. Updater tool is needed to be installed for regular software updates. PPaint also uses the InfoWindow tool for displaying documentation.

AmigaKit has mentioned above that the PPaint project is currently in the red, so more significant updates cannot be delivered. As the majority of the A-EON/AmigaKit funding goes into the development of the graphic subsystem (Radeon drivers + Warp3D Nova) and of SW components necessary to run the A-EON boards, the future of other software titles published by A-EON/AmigaKit pretty much depends on the sales from AmiStore. Every purchase of the Enhancer Pack (which, in your case, would be a discounted upgrade) increases the chance that people like Andy Broad will get paid to deliver a PPaint or SketchBlock update.

With the current installed base, the OS4 market is very small. To keep it going and growing, users need to buy software and support the developers, otherwise no progress can be expected.

@Trixie

I have 15+ titles and Enhancer from the Amistore, and it is worth it.

Enhancer was fully installed on my previous AmigaONE, I know whats is in it, but I am just building my new system slowly up, to avoid the locks with USB, SOBJ objects gone and the installation problem 'Py_SetFatalHook' which now happend with PPaint from the Amistore. It crashes my machine.

Hey, I am just the messenger: attracting more users is allso the 'ease of use'

@bennymee

What version of python do you have installed? Installation Utility 53.18 is a beta component as far asI can tell, (certainly the FE: version is 53.12 ) it would probably need a matching version of python to work correctly.

@amigagang

I could have made it 7.4 but I was following the PPaint tradtion of using letters for minor updates. People may have expected a bit more from a 7.4 release

And I'm sure people would happily buy more if there were more software titles for sale.
