Difference here is though, that neither Apple or Microsoft let everyone use their apples and flags.

@kas1e

So if a smaller version of that banner was put on a webpage to send the user downloading OWB-MUI it would be too fanboyish? I don't get it... Imagine a page where you can download OWB-MUI for AOS, MOS and AROS (and maybe 68k), wouldn't it make it easy for the user to see by the symbols which OS it is for?

Isn't that how they do on every other webpage when you can download the same program for different OSes?

Sorry but I don't get what's wrong with that.

Some more mui-owb progress:

-- Still fighting with Bookmark/QuickLinks stuff. That part use some internal ListTree.mcc structs, which for now trashes a lot, but Deniil are close with it.

-- Fixed some other bugs related to stability/crashes

-- Slash update process.mcc class, but for now its not ready.

@mbrantley
yeah I agree, the blue reminds me of Mos (which is where the program is coming from) so it shows perfectly the mingling going on here.

Some more progress:

-- We (Deniil as usuall) found a little problem in our mui SDK includes, fix it (will report to our mantainers of course), and now bookmark window almost fully works ! Check this out:

bookmark_window screen

Sorry for low quality of MUI settings (those default ugly gadgets/colors), but main idea to show that we have progress with bookmark stuff.

Now we need make to works "quick links" stuff , and after that fixing of bugs only.

@Tuxedo
Nah, no ETA of course. Some bugs can be so hard that any ETA can be borked.

strange. my os4 mui default settings looks different. at least better. you're not using the os4 default setting imho. for example here the buttons have a 3d look. yours are flat.

regards...

Of course. That is because i plays with mui settings a lot, and last screens looks like this, just because now my settings its ugly-empty. I.e. deafult as mui3 default, not aos4 default. Anyway our default aos4 theme suck as well, i will try to contact with Mason, maybe he will in interest to make "modern" theme.

There is still need to do:

1. Tabs a bit buggy (deniil works on it right now) + need some cosmetic on.
2. Favicons not works in history-panel and history-of-urls
3. Context menu by RMB not works on all the windowses except of main one - need to fix
4. Same about bubblehelps - need to fix
5. "gauge" in download manager not present at all and not works (because mui3/mui4 deps). Need to add some stuff with usage of graphics.library ,etc
6. Some random lockups - the heavy problem , should be fixed 100% before release
7. need to fix "curl library port". Because it for now not works as should (os4depot version just compile/run mostly, need to do some code work).
8. Some garbage when we do "save as html" , "save as pdf", "download as" in names of files, what point on memory trashing -> should be fixed as well of course
9. "About" window show nothing (use mui4 about class, need a bit rewrite). Easy, but should be done as well
10. "Process.mcc" on which Slash works not done for now (but its need it, to make all is fine). It uses for the progress bar of first runnin, when font generation happens. (that is only one minus of mui-owb, it use fontconfig, so first run = generating of fonts. the same as current version of TW)
11. have DSIs in the findtext routines in the bookmark/cookiemanager. Should be not hard one, but still DSI.
12. url-stuff suck : looks like need report TextInput.mcc. So for now only non-popup urls works normally (i.e. when you type addresses).

Add to that some "random lockups" which can be because of anything (but should be fixed), and dunno if we should include NPAPI support for first release or not (if so, then add that work as well).

That in generall all what i remember for now.

And not the latest moment, that it will 100% requres mui 3.9 from upcoming update3 (because there is some very necessary fixes done). Of course we can later to do some stuff to make it works on some old version of AOS4 , but that for sure will be very low-priority.

And what is wrong wiht having two modern browsers??

Don't think I ever said there was. MUI-OWB looks very nice, as does Timberwolf alpha. And don't forget NetSurf!

Since their future (and in fact any program) is not certain, even if they are open source, the more the merrier IMHO. (Even if I might have some thoughts on which might be less work overall.)

@Daniel

While visually it can looks like "done", its still have bugs and problems, and for me the most important one : random dead-loops/freezes when browse internet for a long time. For sure that is the most 100%-need-to-fix bug, which will be annoy so much and broken all the fan of the whole mui-owb if release it as it.

But we progress very well. Deniil works hard on mui code (yesterday he fix tabs, so no more distortions on close-buttons (you can see it on prev screenshots), no more problems when click tabs, no more problems when open too much tabs) ). Slash also compile today first binary of OWB, so he start to works "for real" now. Tboekel help us a lot with MUI itself , and all the users wandering and good words about give for us all motivation to make all good and quiality , close as much as possible to morphos version.

I dont think anyone would have a problem with such a release if it was released as run on your own risk early alpha.
