So, 8 GB Ram ?

What board you quote? This is not "Tabor".

Here is P1022 Fact Sheet

It clearly says: 36-bit physical addressing, One x4 PCI Express interface (converted to x16 like in SAM460).

@K-L

Some of these specs are outdated.
I have 4GB in mine and the CPU it is indeed 1.2GHZ.

@Spectre660

I assume you are still under NDA, so benchmarks are out of question?

@pavlor

Tabor is the name invented by A-Eon, it doesn't exist at Fresscale of Qorql.

I think there is an error in the document I found regarding the x2 PCI-Express. Errr, whet does that mean "converted to 16x" ? It's only the form factor of the port.

And BTW there are only 6 SerDes lanes, all shared between SATA and PCI-E ports.

Your document doesn't state the maximum memory the P1022 can handle.

No don't worry.
The Frieden Bros. where bind to many projects in the
past. That's why the development of OS4.2 SMP support
was slowing down. They told me and others that they now
have the resources to speedup SMP & Gallium support
under beloved OS4

Thank you,
Great (hoping that it will be concrete )

True indeed. Sam460 is still also sold under warranty.

True as long as stock lasts!!!

Ah you managed to test one or you're just making assumptions ?

With multicore support you will be better

The Pegasos2 sadly lacks support for RadeonHD or newer.

AmigaOS 4.1 ?

You're right BUT the option is there and
Linux already supports it.

x86 is better for Linux.

Don't compare Apple with Oranges please!

Ah you managed to test the drivers or you're just making assumptions ?

Sorry but the SAM460 onboard SATA is buggy
Rock stable under Linux!!!

36 bit = 64 GB.

Eg. in SAM460 PCIe port is still x4, but has usual x16 mechanical connector for GFX cards.

@Spectre660

Well...
When we can see lame and (much important) blender 2.48 render tests we can early say if was worth or no...
Atm dont seems so worth honestly....
And I'm really sad for that...

Otherwise if you only like to browse(but dont look videos), play with wb or do easy task its ok for sure...

Unfortunately not for me seems....

No AltiVec ?... Sigh...

Ok, nice but what will it bring that Sam460 has not ?

Exactly, comparing it to the Sam460 is more relevant than comparing it to the Pegasos 2, and you also made good points in that other post!

To summarize:

8 GB RAM vs 2 GB (Only 2GB usable on OS4, which kind of nullifies the benefit)
2 Sata vs 1 Sata (Needs a new set of OS4 drivers developed (and for everything else too of course), this usually takes loooong time on OS4)
2 cores vs 1 core (Only 1 core usable on OS4, which kind of nullifies the benefit)
DDR3 vs DDR2 (Availability probably being the most noticeable difference)
MiniITX vs FlexATX (less expandability, while not having GPU removes the biggest benefit of the MiniITX form factor IMHO (the really small/cool cases ))
Better performance (but still on "a decade ago" PPC level, and FPU operations handled by CPU in S/W)
No "Xorro"/"Xena" on either of them (double-plus good)!
More expensive (meaning quite high price for the rather low-end system you get)

AmigaOS 4.1 FE can access the extra memory via Extended Memory Objects.

By default ExtMem pages into the upper half of the 4gb mem space so doesn't reduce the available 2Gb memory space for other applications.

Slower memory bottle-necks CPU in some tasks (eg. FFMPEG video conversion, video playback etc.).

Funny you should mention typical applications who seriously benefits from both Altivec and H/W FPU, both which lacks in this machine...

Of course that has everybody decide for himself

@TRIPOS

You mentioned effects of RAM speed, I showed examples where this matters. Of course, this will not help much P1022 with other weak points.

as far as i gather, this board was presented running linux. linux can be made running on whatever hardware, without need of cross compatibility, no matter what fpu. os4 may or may not become an option once, currently it is not relevant. and judging by os4 developers statements on the meeting all projects they have been involved with are at the same stage they have been for years. running some test programs on different cores. gallium running some test case in software renderer. libre office compiling but not working.

make your bet.

This would make the card unusable for AOS4 and most available Linux versions.

@OneTimer1

Read above, "normal" Linux distributions of course work, FPU is emulated in software (slooooow).

Edit: Must replace keyboard, or person on the chair...

Yes, really. A-EON bothered to introduce this thing only to NOT run AOS4. Yes, really.
