When can we have virtualisation of AmigaOS so that it can be used like an operating system on a VMWare type device.

Will Hyperion consider porting some open-souce application, or even developing a new one from scratch, as far as must needed software goes (e.g. an office suite, or a good web-browser, or any other application for that matter that AmigaOS seems to be lacking)?

Q1: What does your wet AmigsOS dream look like? Give us the dirty details.

Q2: Have you ever considered AmigaOS as a commersial console title? AmigaOS on PS3 or Xbox 360?

Q3: Any easter eggs in Amiga OS 4 developer pre release?

Q4: How important is birthdays to you guys? What about the 23.7.05 Amiga 20th birthday. Worth an OS release?

So after reading the link you provide me of what HyperionMP said, you mean that we could se a PPC/Cell-hybrid mixture for future AmigaOnes and AmigaOS-support? Is that what you're saying?

Perhaps...

Seriously Helgis, I don't know, I just wanted to point out that Hyperion doesn't seem to think the PPC future is dark..

As for a PPC/Cell OS4 version, as long as the MD is a mysterie we won't know until it is revealed.. It could be a Cell based Media Device for all I know. It could be a VCR (no wait, Roque said it wasn't.)

I know is very sad but i think that now this is a obligatory question,

After the news about Apple switching to Intel x86 processor, which future will be able to have AmigaOS again on PowerPC ?

It is possible to think that Hyperion can push the Amiga platform towards about PPC technologies ?

Thanks Hyperion for all your hard work ...

Is there any chance of Hyperion actually directing the future of the Amiga or are we stuck with Amiga Inc. forever?

What other hardware will OS4 run on other than the MicroA1 - which could well be the last Amiga available?

What is Hyperion's business strategy for the release and sale of OS4 - e.g. how will you promote it and where do you see/hope future sales to come from?

What is your long term 'roadmap' for OS4 and with it the Amiga itself. As a future customer I am very interested where you hope to take OS4 with regards to the desktop and embedded markets.

What happens after OS4? You have stated that OS5 is Amiga Inc's 'thing'. Where does that leave future versions of the OS? Will Hyperion still be involved or is that too far away in the future to be a problem?

@Seer

It could be interesting to see how that mixture thing could turn out to be. But i believe this means a huge and special improvement to the PPC-architecture which the Amiga now has and strongly needs!

@Helgis,

Optimist..

Just remember, it may take a long time before we get to know what the MD is (It might be tomorow tho, or maybe next year).. It may not be what we want it may be nothing we would care for at all. That doesn't make it any less tho.

Will you look over the current preferences in Amiga OS? Right now, it's a little cluttered with many things doing quite similar things. GUI/Workbench/Backdrop.. Sound/AHI etc.. Makes it look daunting for a new user and it is a bit inconsistent.

Hyperion started out as an Amiga Games producer. As you've been so distracted with the OS4 project, we haven't seen ports of new games or other things from you for a while now. After OS4 is released as final, will we see some new things to use on OS4 - not just recompiles of previous Amiga ports to become OS4 native but something we haven't seen before on any Amiga - or will you immediately move on to OS4.1 work?

Nubechecorre : Are you seriously interested in continuing support to the amiga platform ? Also with the last news there will be a future for the amiga ? Are you consider to contact developpers such as Freescale ?.. Maybe an amiga os 4.0 that run on Pegasos III ?

This is very important if you consider what's happening in the market ( see Apple ).. All Major industry seem to seek alternative and " new " way to bring their products to light what will you do ?

Thanks

1. Current roadmap and thoughts for AOS4.X- anticipated time to start on, features, etc? Yes, these are always subject to change, but have you thought about it to the point of some bullets or features?

2. Is there any chance of Hyperion getting full rights to OS4.X, in order to be able to better control and make decisions about platforms to port to?

3. In the event EyeTech stops producing ANY A1 boards, is there a backup plan in place, or thoughts to alternate platforms?

4. I know this one will annoy you (sorry!), but people DO want an Amiga laptop, and such a beast could enhance publicity as people carry their laptops with them, but the cost of a new laptop design would obviouysly be prohiitive. Is there any chance to _ever_ see AOS4.X ported to, for example, a specific model of PowerBook?

5. It's been a long trip. What would you have done differently given the gift of hindsight?

6. Are there any plans to have Hyperion officially involved in, alone/closed source, or via open source projects, to fill in some of the 'software gap' in AOS? Both of the Freidens are involved in the OpenOffice port, and we know Hyperion has also donated some hardware to specific projects, but there are other needs like a Firefox class browser, that are simply required for consumer use, even likely for some applications outside the desktop. Any plans to address this?

7. Is it done yet?

EDIT- adding this one:
8. Can you comment or give more details on this statement by Alan from EyeTech?
Quote:
Amiga Inc ran out of money and so couldn't fund OS4. Ben, Fleecy and I brokered a deal whereby Hyperion ported OS4 at no charge to Amiga Inc and, in return, Hyperion would keep the subsequent sales revenues for OS4 on the AmigaOne platform. In the end this turned out to be a much, much bigger task than Hyperion had reckoned on, and several times the project came very close to folding. We had to step in on more than one occasion to keep it afloat. Please make no mistake, without Eyetech putting its money on the line there would not just have been no AmigaOne, there would have been no OS4 either.

quote from Alan's 20 Answers thread here in his introductory statement. This isn't meant to place blame, discredit anyone, or anything of the sort, just to clarify it as this is indeed a part of 'our history,' and I'm sure there's much we collectively just don't know.

I have $1000 for a device running AmigaOS4, but need specs better than a MicroA1 (USB2.0, expandability for SCSI, pro-sound cards, TV cards, more RAM). With Eyetech virtually out of the "Amiga Enthusiast" market, where do I turn?
