Except that's not how it works these days. Especially not if you want to get the attention from some others than the hardcore amiga followers that read amiga related news sites daily anyway.
Once you got people's attention you better deliver or else forget aout getting their attention later on. _________________ Nicolas Mendoza

| Can someone seed a torrent of this?
Also, can someone seed a build of the cross compilers? Yes, I could build it from source, but frankly I've got little enough time as it is to work on hobbies like Python, and I don't want to waste any more time on getting tools to work when other people have already done it. I've only recently got and OS3 cross compiler for windows up and running enough to build Python at a speed that means I can make more than one change a day.
Yes, Amiga Python is not dead - the 2.4 codeline with Amiga specific extensions builds the core libpython now, against clib2, but not the interpreter shell yet. I've spent more time messing about with tools than I have actually writing code. _________________

Erm, just because this is freely available doesn't mean it is freely redistributable. These are still copyrighted materials... _________________ Matt

| If Hyperion are reading, can you please fix whatever service is on port 8080, as I have not been able to connect to it at all for the last hour (port 80 is ok) _________________ "Miracles we do at once, the impossible takes a little longer" - AJS on Hyperion Avatar is Tabitha by Eric W Schwartz

I'm not sure I understand you fully. That IS how it works today. I have the previous release installed, I have been compiling code all day long. It seems to be working fine.
I'm sure there are great improvements in the latest release, but I doubt any of those will affect the code I'm writing today.
So instead of being in a big hurry to download something real fast, just so I can change compilers in the middle of a project, I'll just complete my current project on my existing compiler installation. Then just to be "up to date" I'll download the new one and re-compile it there before making a public release.
Is there some reason why this is a bad idea?

| @all If you have any troubles with distcc and/or GNU make please let me know. Nobody emails with with problem reports and then I hear about issues while devs whine about them on some obscure mailing list or forum someplace. Kinda hard for me to fix problems when you don't report them. _________________ ExecSG Team Lead

Sorry if this sounds obvious, but if the SDK is now freely available, why not just upload it to OS4Depot? Obviously the Hyperion server just got a nasty slashdotting... |
The SDK is still under copyright... everyone is able to download it from the official website (and maybe in the future official mirrors) but You may still not redistribute the SDK (only the contributions with a license that tells you that you may redestribute them, may be redestributed)... _________________ Best regards, hnl_dk - Henning Nielsen Lund [Denmark]

I think a much easier solution for everyone involved would be to have an "official" set of cross compiler binaries people can just download and install.
In a sortof-related issue, I'd like to create a cross-compiler for Windows, and I don't have a functional Linux install right now. Is the supported environment mingw or cygwin? |

That's a shame, the SDK really belongs in OS4Depot. I hope that Hyperion gives them permission to host the files. |

Just remember that nothing beyond the native OS4 SDK is supported by Hyperion. They simply lack the resources at this time. Therefore, there is no official anything for any cross-compilers. Anything we want we have to setup ourselves. As already said, zerohero took the initiative (big thanks!) and has done some work already in this area. I suggest working with zerohero and building on his efforts. _________________ ExecSG Team Lead

Just restarted it. Too many parallel downloads will blow up the Zope server.

Indeed. Folks, please not that although you can freely download it, the SDK and everything in it is still copyrighted (minus the GPL and contributed stuff) so please do not upload it elsewhere. _________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. | Hey Rogue,
how about a controlled torrent seed? It'd save you a lot of bandwidth and you'd still have the IPs of people downloading it, just in case it appears elsewhere. _________________
