| Would be nice if i could get hold of a Cyberstorm PPC card for my A4000T. I would buy a copy then.
Nothing on Ebay any more except a couple of 1200 cards. _________________ Sam

If it wasnt for the "contract issues", would there be anything in the way of you guys porting OS4 to other motherboards? (EFIKA, SAM, and whatever else there is). Have you guys ever thought of just porting it to Mac MINI? I would LOVE to run OS4 on that thing. Is it difficult to port it to the Mac Mini? If you can talk about the Moana(sp?) project and state how far along it is/was...

| While I am glad to see the PR release on Hyperion's site (and actually I was expecting it to appear, despite my support of Bernie), I also have to agree with Bernie that Hyperion has now officially thrown down a challenge to Amiga Inc. It will be interesting to see what action they take - and rather more interesting to see what the judge says (*).
(* = hopefully the judge says that Hyperion can sell OS4 as their contract allowed, until/if the court case decides otherwise.) _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue...

It's a good aggressive move and I respect Hyperion even more for doing it. Coupon scam aside - Amiga inc. has been nothing but a loss maker and embarrassment for their investors and the more that Amiga Inc. will be forced to drawn upon yet more money from their owners the more likely they are to be dumped and the whole thing swing back in Hyperion's favour.
I only wish you could still get PPC cards for the A4000 as I would certainly be buying a copy of OS4.0. _________________ Sam

I wish they'd be even more agressive and release for SAM as well. :( _________________ Pegasos2 G3 running AOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2.0 Amikit user, tinkering with Icaros VM (AROS) EFIKA owner Amiga 1200

| Regarding the "no dma" on the PCI busboards. Now I am speaking from a very naive viewpoint here as I have no idea when it comes to PCI design, but would it be possable to have a dedicated "DMA" PCI card to enable a clean DMA system? SO just having a PCI board with memory on it which acts as a DMA controller?
I am probably talking out of my rear but just a thought to allow the use of SB sound cards etc... |

You are right, the CSPPC seems to have UW-SCSI (max. 40MB/s). I had another look and found out that the BPPC uses the Symbios710, while the CSPPC uses the Symbios770. |

I can confirm that the CS SCSI does work as does a A4008 SCSI hard card. I have tried both along with the A4000T & A4000D onboard IDE i/f.
Interestingly I installed OS4.0 Beta classic onto an A4000D on which I also have OS3.9 and MorphOS PowerUp installed. I have not had a lot of time to test the performance yet but my preliminary impression is that OS4.0 appears a lot smoother/faster on the A4000D than my MorphOS setup? However, do not quote me on this just yet. I am running all from a HDD on the A4000D onboard IDE interface. When I have some time I will try both on a SCSI HDD attached to the CS SCSI i/f.
What's really nice is that standard Amiga floppy drives now work under OS4.0 on classic machines.

Well done to Hyperion.
The only thing I'm concerned about is not being able to utilise the cards (sound, ethernet) in my Mediator... but alas, I do have a BVision to stick back in another setup, if needs be. Come on Elbox...support OS4!
Can't wait too buy it.

| Excellent work as usual! Finally Classic users will feel the true power of their PPC-Amigas with OS4.
@Hondo, I couldn't agree more.
@Rouge, I'm impressed with your dedication to the community, and that you still take the time to answer these kind of posts with such dedication. Hat off.

| Finally the storm settled a bit. Congratulations on this Hyperion!! I am however a lucky owner of an A1-XE so will not get OS4 for Classic. I would love to see OS4 for SAM though!

Perhaps it's a tricky matter with interrupts and DMA. Or perhaps there are no available sources, or they are written in difficult assembly? _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft.

Amiga Inc must take action against hyperion by stopping them releasing os4 at the end of novemeber. If not then they look very bad and weak. As for the coupons that is just a pathetic stunt by them to look good in court. |

Because the CyberstormPPC and BlizzardPPC have two different controllers. It would require someone with SCSI knowledge to actually do an extra driver for the Blizzard, and there is nobody willing to do this. _________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. You are the man!
But what about us with no Blizzard/CyberstormPPC/Amiga One?
I REALLY want to buy OS4 but I haven't got anything to run it on.
Would you advise buying a mac mini, SAM?
Thanks for the great work! _________________ www.loriano.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

You claim that the standard Amiga floppy drive doesn't work under Mos 1.4.5
Try this
http://skolman-mws.w.interia.pl/mos/extmodules.lha
works well under my both Amigas, 1200/4000T Escom
The reason why OS4 runs faster is that it uses Mui3.9 probably(correct me if I'm wrong) whilst Mos 1.4.5 PUP uses Mui 4.0, which is still in beta stage and debug mode is on.
Plz, do feel free to correct me if am wrong Last edited by Sir_Lucas on 25-Oct-2007 at 05:20 PM.
