| I'd buy at least one too!
Although I have one for my A4000 (an Arxon which plugs in the Video slot), it doesn't work quite right with LCD monitors (works great with CRTs).
Please let us know of any further developments! |

| Just because no one else has asked: Will/should this work as an input to cards like the Picasso II?
And for people asking the price: Roy States in Post #22 that he hopes to keep it at or under $65 US. And he says in post #40 that the completed test unit is definitely coming in on budget so far.
Feature Summary: * Connects to 23-pin RGB port on the back of your Amiga and has a 15-pin d-sub VGA socket ( #7 ) * PAL and NTSC auto-detect ( #22 , #35 and #36 ) * 16-bit colour depth (Suitable for ECS/OCS, however newer AGA modes may suffer colour degradation) ( #15, and #36 ) * This unit will act as a de-interlacer (flicker fixer) as well as a scandoubler ( #24 ) * Specs of the chip are Max horizontal resolution is 768 and max vertical resolution is 1024 ( #36 ) but Roy hopes it will pass through any out-of-band resolutions ( #28 ) * Roy says he will give the schematics to anyone who wants to build their own ( #22 ) (Maybe another ACube deal can be struck here? )
I'm interested in one.

| Wow. I go looking for the state of monitor options for old Amigas, and I find this. Great!
I would love to buy one of these. Then I could dispose of my 1084D without feeling the guilt trip my old A500 would give me. The 1084D currently takes 30 minutes to "warm up" and uses far more space than an LCD.
$65 sounds great to me. |

| Hello All,
Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I was busy with the design of the converter. I had a hard time getting the broadband noise out of the unit that is inherent with the conversion process. I am almost ready to take orders. I am saving up some startup money for the project budget. Once it gets going it will be self sustaining.
The price will be $65 USD not including shipping. Shipping will be $5 inside the continental USA and $12 to $15 overseas.
I am going to limit everyone to one unit initially but when I service everyone I will start to take multiple orders for the unit. This will give you time to decide if you really want more than one based on how well you like the unit you have.
If anybody is dissatisfied with my product I will refund your money plus the cost of return shipping.
I will let everyone know here when I start to actually take orders. I have already sent Joe the first unit and we should hear from him about it.
I have tried to post the the Amiga.org site to let those folks know what is going on but I can't get registered for some reason. I would appreciate it if someone here who is registered there would let them know.

| Hello everyone,
I am ready to take orders. One to a customer please and first come first served. Price is $65 USD plus shipping.
You should be aware it might take some time to get to everyone. I make about three every two weeks. It is a hobby for me and I do my best work when I don't rush it. What that means is while some may get their converters soon others will have to wait through a long hot summer.
I have tried to pick an enclosure which matches the A500 in color and style. I have also managed to make the cable long enough for most setups without introducing any significant video signal noise.
To order send an email with "Amiga converter" in the title to: rjrtty@aol.com
I will acknowledge and collect them and send you a return email at the same return address when I have a unit ready to ship to you. You can then acknowledge that email with a shipping address so I can calculate the total price and relay it back to you.
I will take Paypal or a personal check which ever is most convenient for you..... complete details will be transmitted when i contact you.
I always liked the A500 for its processor and custom video and audio chips. Bringing SVGA capability to it will be a pleasure.

| You have done a great thing for the Amiga community here Roy. We all owe you some thanks. Most of us have 1084 monitors that are close to death and this offers a real alternative to the crazy prices on ebaY. Our Amigas thank you. _________________ Amigas For Sale
